Question: Can not getting enough sleep cause weight gain!?
I heard this somewhere!. And I don't mean cause you to eat more calories and gain weight (because that can be controlled by willpower)!. I just mean lack of sleep itself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

research has shown that lack of sleep leads to greater weight gain in test subjects - however they are not entirely sure why!.!.!. and the tests were recorded from subjects GAINING weight!. this means they were all eating the wrong stuff anyways!

so the results state: from those who actually gained weight!. those who got less sleep gained more!. they dont mention the effects on people LOSING weight or eating properly!.

your metabolism is controlled by your lifestyle (exercise), muscle mass, the amount you eat and how often you eat!. so scientists are still unsure as to what causes it!.!.!. possibly a hormone imbalance

or it might just be as simple as this!.!.!. lack of sleep means your body will crave sugar for an energy boost, because it is unrested and fatigued!.!.!.
therefor we make unhealthy or poor food choices and often do not stick to our diets!.

so if you have the will power and you stick to your regime - i highly doubt you will gain weight - it goes against the chemistry of your body
but it is still not recommended you regularly skip sleep!.!.!.

yes!.!.!. but you also have a bit of a catch 22 here!.

If you are sleep deprived and stressed, you produce more of a hormone called cortisol!.!.!. it caused weight gain, especially around the waist!.

BUT, if you exercise frequently at intense levels, especially high intensity aerobice for extended period, such as jogging 30-45 min a day, then your body actually requires less sleep!.!.!.!. but you still feel refreshed and awake after less sleep!.
