Why are people up North so much slimmer?!
Question: Why are people up North so much slimmer!?
I live in Louisiana!. I have nothing against anyone: big, small, young or old, people are people!. Anyway, I just got back from a trip to Seattle & Portland and the surrounding areas!.
One thing that struck me as odd is how remarkably slim the majority of people were!. Even the ones that were overweight, were half the size of what you see down here!. Obesity is nowhere near as common up there as it is down here!.
Yes, I realize the South isn't exactly the most health conscious region of the country!. But what are they doing up there that we could learn from!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

They are more "outdoors" type of ppl!.!.!.!.hiking, biking, camping etc!.!.!.and they also eat a lot more health concious!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
I live in Salem, Oregon, I've never been to the south, but I know that one thing that helps us north westerners stay in shape is all the time we spend in the outdoors!. Hiking, biking, climbing, swimming [tons of swimming, in the river in the ocean, etc]!. I also have a lot of friends who long board, and we play a lot of ultimate frisbee outside when it's not raining!. I don't know, it's just an idea, I've never been to the south so I don't know what the ratio of outdoorsy exercise is!. but I think that is one thing that helps up here :]Www@Answer-Health@Com
Everyone know's the south is famous for the good and fatty foods!. Especially Fried Chicken, and BBQ Foods!.
It's the type of food that people in in that region, in your case, it's fattier foods!.
Take an example in China, Japan, etc!.!. They eat mainly fish and rice, and thats why almost all of their region are slim!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't really eat fried foods up here!. I live in California so we always have some of the best produce year around!. I follow a mostly Japanese/Asian diet of lots of fresh fish, veggies, and green tea!. I try to eat organic, unprocessed foods!. Plus people tend to be more active here!. It is pretty much out of the norm if you don't work out, do yoga, snowboard/ski, surf, etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Along with all the food responses, I'd say, in the summer it doesn't get as hot so they can do a lot more outdoor activities!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

We're democrats!. We focus on teaching things in schools to promote healthy lifestyles!.
