Push ups are NOT my friend... help?!

Question: Push ups are NOT my friend!.!.!. help!?
Looking for ways to tone my arms!.

I can't do more than 5 push ups and they give out!. My arms arent my strongest asset!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:

You may not realise this but push ups not only work your arms, but other muscles are involved too!. In fact, pushups work your pectorals (chest), your triceps, shoulders, back, and abs (yes, abs are used in push ups as stabilizer muscles)!. So, if you're having trouble doing push ups, realise that it could be a weakness in your back or core that is affecting your ability to do them, not just your arms!.

Push ups are actually a very good upper body exercise!. And they're not easy!. If your sole objective is to tone your arms, I think you'd have more success using a pair of dumbbells and stick to doing basic arm exercises 4 to 5 times per week!. Push ups aren't usually the first choice when you want to tone arms!. Too many muscle groups involved in the movement to make it an arm-specific exercise!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey,

Probably the best way is to start asking questions such as why do my arms give out, is i due to actual strength within them, stability in he shoulder joint, weakness around the shoulder blades or strength / stability around the core and hips!?

In order to answer these most effectively you'd need some sort of assessment to see how your kinetic chain is functioning!. This will look at your whole body top to toe to see if you have any physical or neurological issues that may be affecting your ability to perform certain exercises, push ups being just one example!.

Lots of good advice already offered, but I wanted to add that when I first started doing push ups, I used to kneel on my knees and do push ups that way, if you can visualize that!. It is less intense than doing the full pushups with your body parallel to the ground!.

Or you can also try wall pushups, as suggested, which look like this:

If you can't do more than 5 that's means its a good exercise because its a struggle if you could do 200 in a row then the exercise is hardly a challenge its why weight lifters increase weight lifted when they easily do 10+ reps because the weight is no longer a challenge and thus slowing down their muscle growth Www@Answer-Health@Com

yeah thats right !.!.!.!.either mine hehehe

well start from 5 and do more 5 every time and then more
do some little breaks between them

so your arms to get used them slowly
