Question: Four cats, one overweight, how do I put one on a diet!?
We got our fourth cat from the rescue league a few weeks ago, and she's very overweight!. She eats far too often and seems to eat to console herself sometimes!. My other cats are all at their proper weight and do not need to diet!. How do I put just the one on a diet without the others!? I leave dry food out for them all the time and do not feed wet food!. I buy them really good food, and she's eating us out of house and home! Thanks for your suggestions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

We have a cat that weighs/weighed 24lbs!. We put her on a diet that the vet suggested!. He also suggested this website!.

This has a list of what we do as pet parents and a list of what we should be doing!.
We usually make her feel special by giving her a special place to eat!. She gets fed in our room or on a certain part of a countertop (we have a large kitchen with plenty of counterspace)!. You could try taking her into a room with you (living room etc) and make her feel special by letting her eat by your feet!.
You dont want to have her lose it too fast because that can cause kidney failure!. Rule of thumb is 1-2 lbs a month!.
A fav of our cat for exercize is the laser light!. She loves to chase it!. Do this for about 15 minutes a day!.

You should try getting her to play more !.!.!.with a feather or buy one of those lasers from PetSmart!. Something will get her moving!. I have 2 normal sized cats and one who just eats more and he goes crazy for the feather game and string so I just make a extra effort to play with him alone in a room!.
