What is the proper way to do a work out? ?!


Question: What is the proper way to do a work out!? !?
Just about once a week, I exercise at a local track where I live!. I usually start off with a brisk walking pace, and then I work up to jogging for a few laps, and end with a brisk walking pace again!. My question is, how many laps should I do and how long should I work out for!? Should I continue working out as I have stated, by starting of with a brisk walk and then jogging!? Thanks in advance!.
