What is the easiest way to transition your new eating habits after suffering a h!

Question: What is the easiest way to transition your new eating habits after suffering a heart attack!?
My mom had a heart attack about a month ago!. Luckily for us, she survived it!. We are not big people, but like lots of people, we love the taste of great foods!. Unfortunately, also, we like salt!. My mom is having a hard time finding foods she can eat with her condition and enjoy at the same time!. Now, of course, she can't have salt!. She has tried Mrs!. Dash and garlic powder, but they are not doing the trick!. She is still so scared from all of this (they had to bring her back 3 times) and to make things better, I would like to help keep her as optimistic as possible!. Is there any thing else she can eat that would taste better but still be OK for her to have!? Any other suggestions on helping her would be greatly appreciated!.
Thank you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Does she like fish!? Salmon is delicious and so healthy!. Any fish, tuna in a can is fine!. Figure out which fruits and veggies she likes!. A good hi-fiber cereal cereal!. Kashi Go Lean is great with low fat or nonfat milk!. She can have baked potatoes with Smart Balance margarine!. Rice and applesauce is yummy!. Yogurt is great!. Bananas!.
Have her talk to her doctor about this if she's unhappy!. Maybe she should see a nutritionist for a list of foods she can eat!. And she needs to find out exactly how much salt (sodium) she's allowed!.
Bless you both!. You're a good daughter!. That deserves a star in my book! Good luck! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

How nice of you to help her!.
Keep encouraging and complimenting her on her efforts!. It just takes some time and adjustment!.
Also depression goes along with any sudden health change!. If it gets worse ask doctor for help!.
Plan activties after a meal to boost her sprits such as a card game or holiday craft!. Not being able to be as active sits on your mind also!.
I use a site called allrecipies!.com they may have a section for your situation!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had a heart attack and quadruple bypass back in March and I know it is hard!. I am only 43yrs old!. One thing they told me I can have is Sea Salt not the coarse but the fine!. I have learned to use Mrs!. Dash and just experiment with garlic powder and onion powder!. You would be suprised the things you will get used to!. You just have to think you eating to live and not eating to live!. I sure dont want to go through what I have gone through the past 6 months again!. It sucks but this is the hand life has dealt me and I will do what I have to make sure I survive!. You just really have to experiment!. Go all over the internet there are so many healthy recipes out!. Just keep trying and your tastes will gradually change and you will eating the healthy foods you need to!. Hope this helps you and Good luck!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sorry for the scary time you've been through!. It does take a while to get used to 'no salt', but within a couple of months, you do!. DH had bypass surgery in 2001, and it didn't take long before 'store-bought' potato chips, etc!., were WAY too salty for words!.
The hardest thing about a low-sodium diet is bread - store-bought bread is usually WAY too high!. We ended up buying a breadmaker (garage sale, $6) and doing our own low-sodium versions!. Another good tip is for her to switch to Swiss cheese - It has WAY less sodium than others!. Here's a good bread site!.
http://www!.lowsodiumliving!.com/breadbox!.!.!.!.
If you google 'low sodium', you'll find lots of useful stuff!.
We have to make a lot of stuff at home that we used to eat at restaurants, but we still eat extremely well!. Change can suck, but it's worth it!. Good luck!
