Weight training vs. body weight exercise? protein intake? ?!

Question: Weight training vs!. body weight exercise!? protein intake!? !?
I'm 16 and I've been doing a push-up workout for about 4 years!. I've found that this has made me much stronger than I would be otherwise in like everything (biceps, triceps, chest, abs, back)!. Last year I bought the "perfect push-up" handles, since i had problems with my elbows/wrists and those have made me a lot stronger as well!. My friends have been going to the gym like every day and after the soccer season ends, I might sign up for a membership!. I was wondering if i should keep doing what i've been doing, or if I should switch over to weight training and leave out the pushups!. I worked out at my friends house over the summer with free weights and didn't do any pushups, and when i went back to pushups I wasn't able to do anywhere near what I used to be able to do!. Is it better at my age to keep doing pushups and change how I do those (with feet on a chair/exercise ball and wide and closed grips) or go to weights!?

Also, how much protein should one be eating when they workout!. Someone has told me that 1 gram for every pound of body weight, but that would be like impossible!. Is that true, or if not what is the right amount!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Protein first, since that's the easy one!. 1g/1lbs lean bodyweight/day is the number usually given, but the range varies from around !.4g to 1!.5g depending whether you just jog a little or are an olympic lifter!. The reason the 1g number usually comes up is because it's simple, and it discourages gung ho amateurs from really overdoing it!. 1g assumes you're putting serious strain on your entire body regularily!. If you're a little under, you'll be fine!.

As for bodyweight vs!. weights, it really doesn't matter!. You can get a great body and have great strength/endurance using just bodyweight exercises (look up Charles Atlas)!. They're generally more functional moves, but much harder to do initially (pull ups, vertical push ups, etc)!. If you you're looking for extreme strength or the size of a bodybuilder, you may be better off with weights!. You can use much greater resistance with weights and it can be easier to isolate small muscle groups with them!.

I prefer to use both; why not take the best of both worlds!? You won't go wrong with either, but make sure you do more than various push ups!. One legged squats, box jumps, chin ups!.!.!. plenty of options there; don't ignore the rest of your body!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

and that isnt impossible!.!.!.ive taken in over 300g today and i havent had a protein shake!.!.!.im bout to eat like 100 more right now in chicken!.!.!.you need 1!.5-2g per pounds
