Can I monitor my blood sugar levels to help me lose weight?!

Question: Can I monitor my blood sugar levels to help me lose weight!?
I've always wondered if I could use a blood testing unit like the ones diabetics use to monitor my blood sugar for purposes of weight loss!. I'd have to know more, though, like what is a healthy number and what is unhealthy!. Is this a useful strategy, or would it only confuse me or make me paranoid, like checking the scale three times a day would!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I can't see any useful purpose for using a blood sugar monitor to monitor weight loss!.!.Normal blood sugar vary all during the day based on what you've eaten!. Even if you just ate it will take a little time for it to show up on a monitor!.!.In other words, it wouldn't do you any good to know just what it is because it's hard to regulate if your not diabetic!. Your normal range will be between 60-120!. That's our standard protocol readings we look for when testing a patient on the medic unit!. Blood sugar needs to be stable within those ranges!.!.at any given time it may be slightly lower or higher!.!.Radical changes, up or down is an indication of an organ problem which could lead to other significant problems!.!.Be thankful if it's stable and you're not diabetic!. Sugar regulation for those who are is the most important item to monitor!. For a diabetic it could be a life and death number to be concerned with!. You wouldn't want to force your sugar level up or down!. Stabilization is what the body thrives on!. For diabetics stabilizing sugar is as easy as eating the right things at the right time!. Be thankful it's not something you need to keep track of!. For them it's either too much insulin released by the pancreas or too little!. Their bodies can't regulate it properly!. To high or to low and they can pass out!.!.if they do they will stay out until help arrives!. Sever brain damage or death can occur!.!.I've seen readings as low as 14 and and so high our equipment won't read it!.!.!.that's over 700!. Both of those patients were unconscious and near death when we reached them!.!.even though we are able to stabilize them we can't prevent the internal damage that may have already occurred!. By the way, they both suffered brain damage!. The main fuel for the brain is sugar!. But, once again, within normal limits!. As with most things concerning the body, too much or to little will likely cause a reaction of some sort!.
This is not a lecture!.!.just written to inform!.
I'm a natural competitive body builder and often my diet is very near fat free and sometimes I do have a low reading in the high 20's!. That's because I need some fat for the body to convert to the sugar it needs to function!. Because of my medical training I can feel the change in my body and I know what's going on!. I'm not diabetic so I can tolerate low reading!. However, when I feel it I still must address it right then!. It can take as long as an hour to stabilize it!. The drugs we use on the medic unit can do the same thing in a mater of seconds!.!.I do that with food and orange juice!. For me it's as simple as switching from 98% lean beef to 80% lean!.!.just that small difference in fat content can prevent my sugar from getting too low!.!.!.
And another thing!.!.!.don't look at those scales three times a day either!. Don't let a scale regulate what you do or eat!. I've seen people run to the store to grab a laxative pour those laxatives in and you'll destabilize the body in another direction!.The body is an amazing machine!.!.!.feed it for fuel it needs to operate, exercise it to stay strong and it will take care of you!.
This is probable way over the top for an answer but I think it will help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

As Charlie said - eat Low GL foods!.

All foods have a GL level - this is the speed at which they release their energy (i!.e!. sugar)!.

A high GL food, such as chocolate, releases it's energy quickly so you get an energy rush then a little while later, a slump, so you reach for more chocolate!.

Low GL foods such as oats (not instant sachet stuff), release their energy in a slower controlled way!.

This not only means your blood sugar level remains fairly level, you'll stay fuller for longer and have no major hunger pangs!.

Buy a book on Low GL foods for full info on what foods to chose!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

interresting idea, but it will not help!.

Your blood sugars fluctuate after meals and early in morning and late at night because of insulin and counter-regulatory hormones like adrenaline and cortisol!.

Hopefully your body is maintaining a steady blood glucose level as it is!.

Low glycaemic index foods will have a slower change in blood sugars- if that helpsWww@Answer-Health@Com
