According to recent studies (via google and my trainer), the most effective core exercise is a bicycle crunch!. This works your abs (6 pack--upper and lower), obliques (love handles), and transverse abs (deeper muscles)!.

Lie flat on your back with your fingers behind your head!. Lift your legs (straight) to a 45 degree angle!. Now, crunch and twist so that your right elbow is headed toward your left side!. At the same time, lift your left knee to touch (or almost touch) that elbow!. As you lower your upper body, straighten out your leg!. Repeat with left elbow and right knee!. Don't let your legs touch the ground!.

Start with trying to do 10-12 of these per "set", resting for 30 seconds in between!. Do 3 sets!. Eventually you'll be up to 25!. I can make it to 20 now!.!.!.not too shabby! Keep in mind, also, that in order to see those rock hard abs, we have to have very low body fat percentages! You may be totally built, but with a "normal" level of body fat, you might not see them!. For men, that % is around 8, and women it's around 14%!. (Normal is ~15% for men, ~21% for women)!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

one ab workout that i tried for the first time this week is the "extended leg crunch"- it seriously was a bit hard, and i'm still feeling it after a couple of days!

what you do is lay on your back, on the floor!. (recommend a mat for support of your back)!. put your legs out straight at a 45 degree angle to the floor!. put your hands behind your head for support!. this is the start position!.

from the start position, you then simultaneously, bring your knees into your chest, and lift your shoulders off the floor/mat!. return to start position!.

do that about 10-15 times, and then some regular sit-ups 10-15!. then repeat with the extended leg crunch and sit-ups again!.

definitely will be challenging! it helps work your lower abs, and upper abs, and the control you have to use to bring your legs into your chest also work your obliques a little!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

crunches
and sit ups
they arent fun, but i have been doing about 30-40 every evening and i have already seen a small improvment, i have been doing them for 4-5 weeks!. but i probably have more weight to lose!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
