Question: I'm starting to lift 25 pound weights would this amount be adequate to tone my arms!? !?
I'm a beginner weight lifter but i'm strong enough to lift 25 pounds in each arm, is this an ideal amount to strengthen my arms!? Currently I have very little definition in them!. I'm male and currently 17 years old!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sorry for the other advertisement "answers"!. For your question, if that weight isn't too easy or too hard for you then yes it will strengthen your arms!. But if you can't do 6 reps each arm then you might want to do 20s!. Once you can do 25s really easy, it will take more time and more reps to improve so up the weight too 30 lbs!.

25 pounds will do it, but it really is much more complex than that!.

a big mistake people make is targeting the arms and only the arms!. if you really want to bulk up a little you need to work out your major muscle groups (back/chest/shoulders (and legs))!. working these muscle groups will also work your arms, and at the end of your workouts you can move onto more arm exercises (and don;t forget the triceps) to build your arms further!.

as far as the weight, there are many different approaches!. if you are 17, 25 pounds is pretty heavy!. i would recommend dropping the weight and doing more reps/sets!. it will define your muscles more!. then, after some time you can increase the weight to gain more size!. the weight becomes relative, you just do what you can and increase as you go!.

BUT, workign your arms alone will never do much for you!.
