Shouldn't I be gaining a bit of weight by now?!


Question: Shouldn't I be gaining a bit of weight by now!?
I am a recovering anorexic!. I hit my lowest weight at 95pounds and I am 5'6!.

Since then, I have been slowly gaining weight by increasing my calories gradually!. I feel like I am eating quite a bit, but so far I am only up to 107 and its been almost 4 months!. Is that a good rate!?

This is a typical day for me!.!.!.does it seem like I should be gaining from it!? And do you think I really NEED to be gaining if I weigh 107!?

Breakfast - bowl of oatmeal with some raisins (125 calories)
Snack - small apple (65 calories)
Lunch - tomato soup (80 calories), salad (50 calories), veggie sandwhich on whole wheat bread (160 calories)
Snack - carrots (35 calories), non-fat yogurt (35 calories)
Dinner - Tofu (70 calories), potatoes (70 calories), broccoli (50 calories), Salad (50 calories)
Snack - Peach (65 calories)

Sometimes if I am hungry I will have a piece of toast (whole-wheat) with some almond butter (125 calories)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Actually, no!. Your daily total is less than 1000 cals (if I added right) Thats not enough to even maintain a weight of 107 in most people!. And 107 is not a very high weight at all, you can weigh up to 139 at your height and be normal!. I know it is hard, but your going to have to add more calories to gain weight!. Some foods that promote healthy weight gain: nuts, cheese, potatoes, salad dressings, and peanut butter!. Best of luck, I know how hard this can be!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Shoot for 1000 calories/day!. This might seem like a lot of calories, but there is a little calculator thingy that calculates the amount of calories you need just to not loose any weight!. Just sitting somewhere already burns like 200cal/hour!. If you are doing sports (which is a good way to speed up your metabolism), then you might want to go into the 2000 range!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just keep up the good work!. If you want to gain weight eat as much healthy food as possible, it will work fast, and it isn't fatty weight you will be getting!. And you should try a peanut butter banana sandwitch, IT WORKS!

First of all, congratulations on trying to recover!
Are you having regular check ups with a doctor or nutritionist while trying to gain weight!? If not, then you may want to visit one and ask if your eating the right kind of food to be gaining weight healthy as I don't really know what's acceptable!.
However, I do know that after you've not eaten or have restricted your food for a long time it can mess up your metabolic rate and it can take a while to return to normal but I have to say that gaining 12 pounds in 4 months is not too bad but you should be a little bit more, maybe about 115-120!. As long as you keep gaining weight steadily I don't think you should be too concerned!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am sad to say that you are eating less than I eat to LOSE weight!. You ate less than 1000 calories! 1000 calories is the lowest one should eat in order to lose weight healthily! You should seriously realise that you are not a recovering anorexic, but you are still anorexic!. The rate of gaining weight you mentioned is very little, and you are not going to gain any more with this diet either!.
If you want to gain weight, and you must, start eating the following, every day (btw, it may sound unhealthy, but it isn't!. Healthy is what your body needs!. these foods would be unhealthy for me, because I have excess fat, but they are healthy for you, because you need more fat - yes, fat is something you need, when you have less of it than normal)!.
So eat every day:
pizza (at least 2 slices)
pasta with sauce and cheese
a mars bar (2 if you can)!.
make your snacks fried (like have spring rolls indstead of plain carrots)


And you need to gain weight, you must be at least 115 pounds to look healthy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
