I'm tired of reading questions about preteen girls asking how to lose weight!. Either they have self esteem issues or they have health issues!. Either way, it should be handled by their parental guardian!. No wonder more and more kids are obese- no one is standing up and stopping this!. Instead, kids have to ask for help secretly on things like Yahoo Answers!.

I agree, but weight is a very touchy issue, especially with pre-teen and teen girls because of the sudden awkwardness and awareness of their bodies!. It sometimes seems like too private, or even embarrassing a situation to seek out professional, valid help, because most of the time they do not provide the answers girls want!. Therefore, they seek out answers privately and in secrecy, which can lead to a worsening of their situation or an eating disorder!.
I'm mainly sick of mothers blaming the media and fashion world for setting unrealistic standards!. The self esteem of a child rests primarily in the hands of her parent/s and they can choose to build and work with it, or to forget it and blame something else!. You've got it the wrong way around!. These kids are so desperate because they hear all the stuff about the 'obesity crisis' constantly and are panicked at the thought that they might be fat!. When their parents tell them they're fine (because a lot of the time, they are!) they don't listen, because they're sure that they must be fat and ugly really!.
When in actuality, childhood obesity rates haven't been going up in the past ten years, and children born today live LONGER and HEALTHIER lives than their parents!. The people who say otherwise are, like the spammers constantly invading this forum, trying to sell you weight-loss products!.
Yes, there are fat kids!. But there have always been fat kids!. There were fat kids thirty years ago, and the same sort of nonsense being spouted about how they were "going to die before their parents"!. Which didn't happen!. I personally don't find that much wrong with it!. They obviously just want reassurance about how they look!. Seriously, everyone wants a little confidence boost once in a while!. And even if its just from a bunch of internet people it makes no difference to some girls!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Have you seen some of the obese/ overweight kids today!? The bullying at school because of it is traumatizing!. Why not ask here where you don't have to let anyone know that you asked!. Hopefully someone will tell them about a healthy eating habits!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Very true!. I am a preteen, and sure, I feel self conscious sometimes, but I don't make questions asking how to lose weight!. If I wanted to know how to, I would ask a parent or doctor!. =/Www@Answer-Health@Com
