Question: Am i getting fatter or just higher metabolism!?
well im 17 and about 5'9 weight 170!. I go to the gym almost everyday and before school started i was about 165 but now a month later i gained 5 pound!. I mostly run for a mile and a half everyday and work out for about an hour and 30min in the summer i went 5 days a week but now i cut it to 3-4 time a week!. also what i notice is that im eating about twice as much as i did!. it just feel like im getting hungry alot faster!. im trying to be about 150 pound and im scared of being over weight so how can i tell if its my metabolism or im just getting fat again!? the 5 pound might be muscle weight!? Rigorous exercise makes you feel a lot more hungry (I know I ended up overeating when I did track back in high school) because your metabolism has been sped up, gaining muscle results in a higher metabolic resting rate, and because you burned calories during your excerise!.!.!. HOWEVER, if you want to lose weight, you really really need to control what you're eating!.

What I did for my current plan (I've dropped 15lbs since mid-August) is I came up the a good healty diet/daily eating plan and did it for a week!. Then I added in the exercise and continued to increase the exercise, but never started eating more than the original amount of food!. At first I felt really hungry, but that feeling goes away once your body adjusts and you start burning off reserves!.

Higher metabolism would keep your weight down, not raise it!.!.!. you'd burn more calories faster!.

A lot depends upon your build and body type, but the best indicator of appropriate or inappropriate weight is BMI!. Here
