Why am i losing muscle mass?!


Question: Why am i losing muscle mass!?
I am a 20 year old guy and have been trying to build up on and off over the last 4 years with no sucess and ive tried every mass gain diet and training plan going however i recently started up again and noticed that i am actually losing muscle mass I go to the gym twice a week and am eating 4 chiken breast fillits and a full bag of pasta plus whatever i have for my tea a day wich easly comes to 150-160 grams of protien a day i cant understand I am getting really annoyed and just about thinking f**k it just use steroids as I am rapidly reaching the point were I really dont care anymore Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wish you'd have given a ton more info in your question because there are a lot of holes here!. What sort of build do you have!? How long have you tried the different workout plans for before stopping!? What plan are you on now and how long have you been on it!? How tall!? What body weight!? % body fat!? How often are you eat!? How long are you exercise sessions!? Are you doing cardio!?

Yeah, tons of questions!.

The obvious answer is you are losing muscle mass because you aren't eating enough protein or you aren't eating it at the right times!. You also might just be low on total calories!. I eat 8 meals a day and have 40-60grams of protein per meal at a minimum!. I generally try to get in 400 grams of protein a day but fall short and hit only 350 most of the time!.

Working out twice a week is decent but how are the workouts!? Whats the level of intensity!? What exercises are you doing - how many sets - how many reps and are you going to failure!? If you want to build you need to stress you body!. Really stress it!. If you aren't hitting failure on at least one set per exercise then your chance of gaining muscle is low!.

How is your diet!? Are you getting enough essential fatty acids!? Too little fat will reduce your testosterone levels and makes it very hard to gain muscle!. Trying to be all low fat and eating just pasta and chicken and such -- bad idea!. Have some nuts or some peanut butter!. Seriously, it will make a big difference!. You diet is almost more important than your workouts!.

Well stop trying to be "fit" and stop being so focused on having to be in shape!. You're obsessed with being fit!. Don't take steroids! And still go to the gym but try doing the exercises that work the arms and abs to get them toned!. You don't need to be all muscle for girls to like you as girls go for personality (well the girls that are dating material)!.
