How often can I work out.?!

Question: How often can I work out!.!?
Here's the deal!. At my mma gym, we do some really intense cardio/endurance, and I've stopped using my free weights so I will be well rested for this!. I'm wondering if I can do some extremely low rep strength building on the days before this without becoming overtrained!. I desperately need to get back into a strength routine!. Answers:
Yes, you can do a strength cycle!. I'd say that given your MMA training and its intensity level, you probably are best off doing an ultra low volume high intensity workout!. I'm thinking something along the lines of Mike Mentzer's Heavy Duty system!.

Search on that and you can get really good ideas of the plans but the basic premise is that you warmup and then do ONE preexhaust set followed by one working set!. You take the set to total negative failure!. And you workout only once every 4-5 days using an A and B or A/B/C workouts!.

So your A workout might be Chest, Shoulders and Triceps and you'd do something like this:

warmup
1 set of dumbbell flyes ss decline bench press
1 set of skull crushers ss dips
1 set of lateral raises ss shoulder press

and thats it!.
But the key is that you must hit complete failure!. So you do heavy flyes for 1 set of 6ish then you bench for one set of 8ish then you do a static hold at near lockout until you can no longer hold it then you do a negative and resist until it hits you in the chest!. So, you NEED a spotter and a good one!.

Cardio and weights are 2 different things!.

To gain muscle, you have to eat more than you burn!.

To burn fat, you have to eat less than you burn!.

If you want to burn fat, go to the gym every day and do 45 minutes of running!.

If you want to gain muscle, go to the gym 3 days a week and workout 30-1 hour a day!.

Overdoing you workout could increase the body's release of cortisol, which promotes adipose tissue synthesis (Creation of fat) and cortisol breaks muscles as a source of amino acid energy!.

If you want to gain muscle and lose fat there is something called Bulking and Cutting!.

Bulking is where you eat more than you burn to gain muscle for 6 months of the year, the other 6, you cut, meaning to lose that weight to reveal the muscle underneath!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can do as much cardio as you want!. Lift weights only every OTHER day!. Good luck! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
