How can I get fit and build muscle but keep my shape?!

Question: How can I get fit and build muscle but keep my shape!?
I've encountered a little problem!. I'm a small guy!. I'm 5'7" and I've got kind of a beer belly type shape!. I've seen some muscle-bound guys that are very fit and have hard chests, but they're thick, as I believe to be called "barrel-chested"!.

I want to gain muscle and be physically fit, but with my body type, I don't want to slim down and become stick-like!. I want to keep my body shape the way it is and just transform all my fat into muscle, but keep the thick chest!.!.!.I hope that makes sense!.

I just don't know the way to go about it!. I know that certain machines in the gym will slim me down and make me smaller!. I don't want to be lean, I want a thick muscle build!. Does anyone know any machines I should stick to!? or certain ones I should avoid!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Dont use machines!.!.!.use free weights instead!. Also incorporate compound movements into the mix like deadlifts, squats, and benchpress!. Your body type won't change because you started working out!. Have big joints!? Then you'll be able to have good muscle size/mass and you'll look muscular!. Have a small frame!? Then you are gonna be small framed - just with muscles!. Sorry, thats the way it works!. You can add the illusion of size by working out your entire body, over full range of motion with a variety of rep ranges to hit the fast and slow twitch fibers!.

But weights are weights!. Free weights help work the stablizers more!. Machines let you lift heavy and focus on the primary muscle group!. But if you lift hard and heavy, stay between 6 and 10 reps per set and work to failure then you'll gain muscle!. No machine will make you gain the "wrong" muscle or make you gain a leaner muscle!. Your body doesn't have a clue what machine you are on!. You add resistance and it responds by adding muscle!.

You want to lose the fat and add the muscle!. Find a good diet and stick to it for a few years!. Work out consistently 3-5 times a week for a few years doing a solid routine of weights and cardio and you are set!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
