The science of weight loss is really quite simple!. If you burn more calories than you take in - you will lose weight! It's as simple as that!.

Your body will naturally burn 1800 calories a day, and you can add to that by doing things like walking as you suggest!. Walking for 60 minutes will help you burn an additional 420 calories!.

Now - while exercise is important - it actually only counts for 20% of your efforts to lose weight!. The remaining 80% is made up of eating a healthy diet!.

It's advisable that you try and get an idea of how much calories you take in!. You shouldn't have to do an exact count - but just make an estimate!.

Preferably your intake should be slightly less than 1800 calories a day!. That way you'll lose a bit of weight every day!. To lose 1lb of body fat you need to burn 3500 calories above your intake, so as you might guess losing 85lbs is a long term thing, but losing 2lbs a week should be a realistic goal!.
