Is my diet okay for gaining muscle and losing fat?!

Question: Is my diet okay for gaining muscle and losing fat!?
I am really doing whatever I feel I need to in order to get a six pack soon, and I'm definitely heading in the right direction, but I'm a little worried about my diet!.

I work out 2-3x a week for an hour (pushups, pullups, weighted situps, etc), and vary it every week!. I also do ab workouts like palates a few times a week!.

My diet is fine on fat, fairly low carbs, and very high in lean protein!. I also drink plenty of water and consume dietary fiber and eat flax seeds!. I also use patentrim diet pills!.

The problem in question: I only eat like 1600 calories a day, and as a 6 foot 174lb 22yr/old male I question if I'm hurting myself!. Also, I drink one evening a week about 8 drinks, although I'm still under-calorie for the day!.

The dailyplate!.com says I could eat like 1800 more calories a day to maintain my weight!. Also, a body-fat meter says I'm 11!.8% body fat!.

Am I on the right track to get a 6-pack or is my diet going to mess it up!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Doesn't sound like you need to "diet", just eat right!. And look at michael phelps, he consumes 8000 calories every day just to maintain his weight!. If you are exercising a lot you're gonna need more calories for the energy you are using!. You are hurting yourself in the long run!. Calculate your BMR, aka Basal Metabolic Rate, which is the amount of calories your body needs to function ( breathing, thinking, etc)!. Then incorporate the calories your body needs for exercise!.

For example I am a 5' 10" female!. I weigh 150 lbs!. I am an athlete, I swim and play volleyball!. I am by no means fat!. My BMR is about 1500 and my activity level requires about 600 more!. and I'm only moderately exercising currently!. so I would need a total of 2100 calories per day to maintain the weight I am at!. But if I wanted to lose weight would need to lessen the amount to at least 1600!. That's only 500 less; anything less can be unhealthy and can lead to loss of muscle mass!. So I would need to cut 250 from my diet and burn another 250 in the gym!. (3500 calories = 1 lb so if I were to consume 500 less each day for a week I would lose 1lb etc!.)

oh and you are a male, taller than me, weigh more and consume less than me!? not sure that's a good thing that you are consuming less calories than me : )

you are on the right track with everything else!. eat more!. you should probably dump the diet pill, but that's just me!. you should be close to your goal, if it's achievable that is!.!. make sure what you are aiming for can be achieved and your standards aren't too high!.

good luck with getting that 6 pack!Www@Answer-Health@Com
