What can I take for lunch to college?!

Question: What can I take for lunch to college!?
I'm 17 and go to college (I'm British, I mean college as in higher learning before university in case Americans get mixed up)!. At my college they only sell mostly junk food for lunch, such as chips and burgers!. They do sandwiches too but they are pricey and look unappetizing!. I'm trying to eat healthily but I don't know what to take in myself!. Any suggestions!? Loads of people have gained weight since they started college!. I could also do with snack suggestions so I don't go to the vending machines!. I'm not asking for diet tips, just healthy eating suggestions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You could have a sandwich made on brown bread or in pitta bread, plus some fruit, or a chicken salad!. For snacks, as well as fruit, try carrot sticks or slices of toasted wholemeal pitta with a little pot of hummus to dip in!. Or take a salad made up of lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes etc!.

Ready-made foods like packaged sandwiches, although better than chips, can have lots of salt and saturated fats in, so it's a good idea to avoid having them every day!. Invest in a few different sandwich fillings so you're not eating the same thing every day; home-made ones are much better for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'd stay away from the vending machines too!. They are the worst enemy to anyone with some spare change and a growling belly!. You can eat the burger for lunch but don't eat the the bread!. Can you get to a market and buy fresh veggies like carrots and celery, apples and such!?Hard boiled eggs are good sources of protein!. How about a trail mix (nuts, dried fruits, chocolate chips or mm's) you can make this yourself and keep in a plastic container or baggie in your book bag!. If you are stuck with the vending machines on occasion --pretzels or ok because they aren't fried like chips and nuts!. bagels and cream cheese are ok too in moderation instead of a fatty sandwich!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can make a sandwich at home if you don't mind carrying around a lunch bag all day!. Celery, carrots, peanut butter and crackers, fruit, cheese!. Any left overs from the previous night's dinner is good too!.

If you dont like the idea of hauling around half the kitchen with you all day, then try just the single serving fruit smoothies or yogurt smoothies and maybe a nutritional bar for lunch!. Zone bars are pretty tasty!. If they don't have them in the UK, you can order them online!. My kids practically lived on them in high school and college when time was at a premium!.
