Answers:
Yes, if you do it properly, and combine it with a good diet then it will make a huge difference!.

If you want to become stronger, then you need to lift heavy weights in a low repetition range!.

Such as 5 sets of 5 reps!. That is the optimal amount!.

I notice that another answer said to become stronger, you should lift light weights, in a pattern such as 5 sets of 20 reps!. This is simply incorrect!. That won't make you much stronger at all, unless you are very weak to begin with!.

Also, do not combine exercises where you use a heavy weight a few times and ones where you use a lighter weight many times!. This is just pointless and counter productive!.

Try and avoid isometric exercises such as bicep curls!. For a beginner, these are completely pointless!.

While dumbbells work fine, you would probably advance more quickly using a barbell training routine!. However it is quite possible to get creative with dumbbells and do quite well!.

I STRONGLY advise you check out this website http://www!.exrx!.com it is an excellent source of exercises and the proper way to do them!.

You should try and stick to compound exercises for the first two to six months of training!. A good example would be squats or bench presses!.

You will also need to get enough to eat, the easy way to do it!. Is to stick to healthy food and just eat until your full, you need the food when your actively weight lifting!. You also need to avoid junk foods like pizza and soda!. And absolutely no alcohol, or drugs, obviously!.

Anyway, that's the basics!. Keep it simple for the first two months, just use 3-4 compound exercises!. And increase the weight weekly!. For your first two months of working out with weights, if you eat right you will see improvements every time you work out (you can literally be able to lift like 5 lbs more then you could just a few days before!. It's wicked fun!.)

And @ the "seen skinny people beat ripped people at arm wrestling" guy, that may be so, but the guy who can bench 225lbs at the gym just once is going to beat the skinny pansy guy who can lift 20lbs 100 times in a row at arm wrestling any day of the week, hands down!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it depends on how much you weigh and how much you can handle!. yes it will make a huge difference but depends on what change you want!. If you want to become stronger then you need to lift lighter weights like 15's or 20's but do about 5 sets of 20's!. If you want bigger arms then do weights like 30's or 35's and do about 4 sets of 10's!. I've seen many skinny people beat ripped people in arm wrestling!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

lifting weights along w/ cardio will not only improve your strength, you will become more healthy and have more energy!. You don't need to lift heavy weights!. somewhere around 10-20lbs usually works for me!. also back to the basics ie!. push ups and situps are always good for becoming stronger and healthierWww@Answer-Health@Com

not really, unless you had a wide range of exercises to do with them as dumbells are limited on wat muscles you can exercise with them, also i would lift your max every other day to build and then in the mornings and at night lift a lighter weight to shape your muscles!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
