Help me eat healthier??!?!


Question: Help me eat healthier!?!?!!?
I'm 16 years old, a size 8-10 and am quite healthy looking!. However, all I eat is junk and I know that sooner or later it'll catch up with me!.
I can't stand most fruit and vegetables, i'll put up with a few things like broccoli, spinach and maybe a banana here and there but i know it's not enough!.
Has anyone got any suggestions on how I can eat healthier but not force myself to eat things I hate!? PLEASE!?!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hmmm!.!.!.Well, first let me tell you!. Trying to quit the food you love or restricting yourself all together DOES NOT WORK! It just makes you crave it more and will set you up for binges!. TRUST ME!. (personal experience) Here are some tips that may help you :

1) Include a healthy food whenever you can!. (example : instead of peanut butter and jelly (which is high in sugar) try a Peanut Butter and BANANA sandwhich or one with slices of fresh STRAWBERRY!. Feel free to experiment and try other fruits, but those are my favorites!

2) Instead of chips/ fries with your sandwhich try nuts (you can get them chocolate dipped if you like), dried fruit, raisins, grapes, pretzels, carrot sticks or trail mix!.

3) for a dessert (if you HAVE to have one) switch to frozen yogurt instead of ice cream or these thingies I saw at the grocery store called Skinny cow ice cream sandwhiches!. They are only like 50 - 100 calories I think!. Also try SWEETER FRUITS such as : Mangos, cherries, kiwi, strawberries and apples with maybe a little honey or coolwhip on top!. Also try Jello!. It's not that bad, like 10 - 70 calories depending on what flavor!.

4) Snack ideas : Graham cracker with a little bit of peanut butter spread on top, maybe a little honey drizzled on that and some banana slices, (the foods I said to substitute chips with), peanut butter and celery (peanut butter is VERY filling but watch out because it's high in calorie and fat), raisin toast with jam instead of butter!.

5) Drinks : Cut out soda (you can save up to 300 calories a day if you drink 1 soda for each meal) Try crystal lite water flavors or something!. They are 5 calories and they are actually pretty good!. You can get all sorts of flavors!

Just cut back on carby food like white bread and pasta (switch to wheat or whole grain) and sauces like ranch, alfredo, and mayonaise and stuff like that!. Plus cut out greasy and fried foods and sugary foods!. But allow yourself to have something indulgent 1x a week!. That way it will keep your cravings down and make things much easier!. You will have to eat fruits and veg at some point to be healthy!. There is SUCH a wide range out there that you must like some!? How about a veg curry!?

For a healthy diet, you need to be eating small to medium meals regularly!. 4 or even 5 times a day!. Each meal (apart from breakfast which should preferably be fibre rich), should contain a balanced ammount of carbohydrates for energy, (from potatoes, rice and pasta, etc) protien (from fish, chicken, occassional red meat is fine, soya is good too) and plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants (simple fresh fruit and veg)!. Eat like this and make sure you are well hydrated (fruit juice is as good as water, any fluid counts, but some fluids have negative effects too, such as alcohol or caffiene rich drinks!.)

You can have a wide range of healthy meals with this, from Thai, Chinese, Italian, British, Indian, etc!. Just make sure each meal contains balanced ammounts of these three!. On the bright side too, fresh veg and rice and pasta is a lot cheaper than crappy junk food!

This doesn't mean you cant have chocolate or pizza/takeaway/etc, just save them as very occassional treats!.

most junk food breaks down into sugar - particularly sucrose, which causes a spike in blood sugar!. Your body reacts to this sugar like any other addictive substance!. The more junk food you eat the more junk food your body wants!. You have to slowly break the addiction by gradually switching over to healthy alternatives!. You said you don't like most fruits and vegetable but over time your body will start craving healthy foods and they will start to taste much better!. The key is to stick with it, don't try to do it all at once and stay positive!. It took me about 5 years to get to this point and I'm still working on it but does work!. Drink smoothies with fruit in them, or take vitamin supplements!. If you eat a lot of protein like chicken or fish (It is good for you) But your right, eating junk food will eventually catch up!.!. keep trying to add the healthy foods you do like to your meals, and the ones you don't try and grind them up into little pieces in your meal so you don't taste them as much!. experiment with veggies!. Make a big salad with cheese and lean meats, which will help the vegetables go down easier!. Also try cooking stir fry, which is yummy and healthy!. You don't have to always eat vegetables raw, but I do recommend eating apples for snacks because they are sweet and much better for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

here's a small list of healthier foods you need'nt eat only fruits 'n veggies :

granola bar
dried fruit
cereals like all bran flakes
apples
vita snacks
popcorn with minimum salt
water must replace all other drinks only one juice/cold drink per week
special k's are even nice without sugar
oats
yogurt
musli
kiwi
grilled chicken

please just try eating fruits and veggies for a week if you cut out all your junk for a week and eat mostly fruits 'n veggies you'll get used em and start loving them!. you only say you don't like tham coz you haven't tried themWww@Answer-Health@Com

Try salads with sweet stuff!. I am the same way and I stated eating spring greens with craisins, walnuts, and feta and balsamic vinaigrette every day for lunch and I feel like I'm at least geting some veggies in!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
