Is lifting any kind of weights bad for you?!


Question: Is lifting any kind of weights bad for you!?
I have been lifting weights for about 2 months now and before i started i asked my doctor and he said i can but i need to start light or i will get injured and now my causin went to the hospital and they told him lifting any kind of weights is bad because if you do it for a long time and stop your muscles get soft you can get arthritis and basically your body gets messed up they said instead do push ups pull ups sit ups and run (i use dumbbells) is what they said true!? and would weight lifting mess me up!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your Doctor is right!. Strength training with weights is a safe activity!. Warm-up and start light, but regularly increase the weight lifted otherwise you won't continue to develop!.

Many people in the medical profession have no training in strength development!. The personnel in the hospital were offering unbelievably bad advise!. They are simply repeating an old myth!.

Doctors recommend strength training for kids!. It improves athletic performance and helps prevent injury!.
