Food diaries are effect when you need to loose weight!. They allow you to see exactly what you are eating, and help you recognize where you are going wrong with your current diet!. For example snacking, or over eating at a certain point during the day, or week!.

They can be useful as an aid, but don't get too obsessive about it!. Keep one going before you begin your diet, for perhaps a week and then will be able to pin point whats going on with your current diet!. Then continue to keep on for a few weeks at the start of you weight loss diet!.

I think it depends on the person!. If you are the type that likes to write logs, then maybe it will work for you!. Personally when I wanted to lose weight I never used a log because I thought that food should be something you enjoy, and shouldn't be a math!. (I still think that way!.) Instead, I listened to my body-- I cut my portion sizes, only ate when I was hungry, made sure to drink when I was thirsty so that I wouldn't get hungry, and usually chose healthy foods when I was hungry! (And I mostly stopped eating white bread)Www@Answer-Health@Com

they really help you to remember everything you ate for the day!. then you can see what foods are not so good, calories and fat wise!. also, if you put the time down when you eat something, you will be able to notice patterns in when and why you eat!. same thing for emotions, if you write down how you're feeling at each time, you might realize you're eating certain things when you were feeling a certain way that you hadn't realized before!.

and lastly, you have to be accountable for yourself!. a food diary doesn't do any good if you try and lie to yourself and sometimes if you want to grab a snack that's not so good, you might think twice when you know you have to write it down!.!. or you'll eat it anyways because we can't be perfect all the time! As long as you are honest it will help in your weight loss process!. Most people don't realize how many calories they actually take in every day so writing down can help!. Very effective!. So many times we eat out of habit and not because we are really hungry!. When you can see what you ate all day and you have to track it, it makes makes you conscientious of what you eat and also brings your attention to things you may not have known about your diet - like not eating any vegetables for a whole day on a regular basis!. It is highly important to count your calories everyday!. The only way you loose fat is to burn more calories than what calories you take in!.
