You cannot simply substitute high-fat dairy products (i!.e!. cheese and eggs) for meat!. You need to stick with lean proteins like fish, egg whites and soy products!. You also need to be careful not to replace meat with high carbohydrate foods like bread and pasta!. I've been a vegetarian for five years now and until a year ago was heavier than I had ever been!. I've since lost about 50 pounds by reducing carbohydrates and making sure most of my fats are monounsturated fats from olive/canola oil and nuts!. The most important thing, though is to drink LOTS of water and eat LOTS of vegetables!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you are eating eggs or fish how can say you were vegetarian!. Vegetarian mean eating vegetables, fruits, cereals, dals, grains (rice, wheat, bajra, jowar, etc), chappati, rice, cornflakes, oatmeal, corn products and dairy products like milk, cheese, butter, ghee, paneer!. However, some of these are fattening!. So I would suggest the following : Avoid fat : no dry fruits, potatoes, fried foods, reduce oil intake, rice!. If you do want to eat rice do not steam cook it in a cooker rather cook it in boiling water with salt & drain the water when the rice is cooked!. Drink lots of water - 10-12 glasses a day!. Unless you have a special need to be vegetarian, it is generally not a healthy choice!. One problem is there are some vitamins and minerals its hard to get enough of - for example, it is very difficult to get sufficient B-12 without eating meat!. (b12 deficiency may lead to blindness) You may be interested in searching "vegetarian" on Dr!. Mercola's website, he has been in nutrition for over 10 yrs!. and has a very nice website!. Just google mercola!.com, you may have to register to read the newsletter archive, but it's free and he has TONS of info!. I highly recommend it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
