Hi! I am also 5'8" and when the scale reached 200lbs!. I said "That's IT"!. The very next day my husband and I both started on the road to a new way of eating!. We each lost 40 in about 4 1/2 months!. Here's what we did:

1 - Walked for 1/2 hour each day and gradually worked up to 45min each day (sometimes we would take 1 day off a week just to let our bodies rest)

2 - Only ate foods that are natural to the earth!. We had 1 large (dinner plate size) salad per day, usually supper so that we weren't going to sleep with heavy food in our stomach, that consisted of romaine lettuce, broccoli slaw mix, spinach leaves & fresh parsley (this is always the salad base)!. We'd top that with diced soy chicken nuggets, some apple cubes or oranges, dried cranberries or raisins, sliced grapes, almonds, walnuts & chow main noodles!. I used a fruity dressing and didn't worry much about the fat content!. Does it get boring eating a salad every day!? Honestly, NO! If it were a plain ol' veggie salad with boring italian dressing or ranch then, oh yeah - blah! But the textures, flavors and variety all blend so well that it's yummy yummy every single day!
We made the vegetables the main focus of our meal and used meat and starches as accents or side dishes!.
Stopped using regular white bread and switched to Ezekiel bread & tortillas which is a wonderous sprouted grain bread!.

3 - Eventually added 3 days of 1/2 hour Pilates and/or stretching videos and 3 days of 1/2 hour weight lifting!. I made sure to allow one day off for my body to rest!.

4 - Made sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water everday PLUS swallow at least 2 tablespoons of unfiltered, organic apple cider vinegar everyday!. I fill our water bottles before starting the day and take what I need to work!. Here is a good water drinking schedule:
1 glass upon rising in the AM - 1 glass after breakfast - 1 glass in mid morning - 1 glass before lunch - 1 glass throughout the day - 1 glass for snack - 1 glass before supper - 1 glass in the evening!. Don't worry, if your not used to drinking water and think you will run to the bathroom all day, you probably will at first but your body will adjust and be thankful for the H2O!.

5 - We stopped eating conventional meat & poultry!. Whenever I cooked meat, I made sure it was organic, hormone & antibiotic free and free range (if possible)!. I think that all the stuff they pump into animals today to make them grow faster, etc!. goes straight into our system when we eat them!.

6 - We only weighed ourselves once a month!. I find that daily or weekly weiging is discouraging because you will only see a 1 - 2 pound loss per week!. Your hopes are to see a five or six pound loss on the scale so designating a once a month weigh in is what worked for us!.

And, that's about it!. It's not hard!. We're not sacrificing anything!. Actually, we felt better immediately! My headaches quit, I wasn't sleepy or sluggish, we could move better, our overall outlook was more positive, my skin cleared and looked better!.
Also, if we want to go out to eat, we do!. Almost every restaurant has healthier choices now and it is solely your choice what you choose from the menu!.

Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

When it comes to losing weight, teenagers should consider some type of physical exercise or activity as well as a healthy diet!. Eating the right type of healthy foods are essential, but physical exercise will not just help with your weight loss, but you will feel the benefits in other ways as well!.

If you look at other teens who do some type of physical activity, you will see they are probably not carrying much in the way of excess weight!. This is not to say that doing any sort of physical activity will turn you into a champion athlete or give you the physique of a body builder, but any sort of regular exercise will help your weight loss and general well being!.

It can be so easy to get stuck in a rut, not doing any exercise!. You can spend all your free time sat in front of a PC, watching TV, or playing computer games(well Wi-fit is going to be the exception, so give it a go), and not bother doing anything about your weight!. Your weight could still increase, and your general health will suffer, but if you want to do something about your weight, you are going to have to get active!. Perhaps you could get together with a friend and take up some exercise activity!. If you decide to give a team sport a shot, you are going to meet new people and make new friends!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
