Why is my push up to pull up ratio so different from my friends?!


Question: Why is my push up to pull up ratio so different from my friends!?
last week I could do 8 pull ups and 20 push ups!. My friend could do 3 pull ups and about 35 push ups!. How come those numbers are so different!? Don't they use the same muscles and use countersweight or what not!? Also, I seem to be able to do more pull ups every week, but my push ups go up one week then down the next week!. (For example: last week I could do 20, this week I could only do 15(Don't laugh)) It may be because I held the position at the bottom and top longer than last week though!. I'm not sure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The muscles on your back, forearms and biceps (Muscles used during pull-ups) are either bigger then your friends or they are better conditioned than your friend's!.

It goes the same with the muscles used in push ups!.(Triceps, Shoulders, and Chest) Your friend might just have bigger muscles in those areas or they are better conditioned!.

Everyone's muscular strength and endurance varies, we are not built the same!.

The slower you perform a strength exercise the more difficult it will be!. Keep persisting and you will improve!. Most peoples pull-ups are limited by their grip strength!. The grip gives out before the lats and biceps!. Try improving your grip strength by simply holding heavy weights in your hands for as long as is safely possible!. Something else you could try is performing the lowering phase of the pull-up very slowly, or pausing for a few seconds about half-way down!. You could try some weighted push-ups to improve there!. Have your training partner sit on your shoulders and see how many push-ups you can squeeze out!.

idk if u knew this but!.!.!.!.!.!.!. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT!. just because your freidn can do this many doesnt mean u have to!. your muscles arent the same!. and pullups and pushups dont use the same exact muscles!. It also depends on what kind of pullup u are doing!.

im guessing u weigh like 120 lbs if u can do 8 pullups but barely any push-ups!. so push ups work ur chest and triceps and some shoulders while pull-ups workout ur biceps and back!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
