Difference between dead lifts & good mornings?!

Question: Difference between dead lifts & good mornings!?
This may seem like a dumb question, but I really have been trying to find the answer without much success!.

What are the key things that distinguish a dead lift from a 'good morning'!? Knees straight vs!. bent, bending from different spot!?

I've read about a dozen different descriptions of each one, & watched several videos of each!. I can tell they are not the same, but I haven't really found anything comparing the two & pointing out how they differ!.

I'm a bit of a fitness nut, so this is driving me slightly crazy!. Thanks! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The traditional dead lift with bent knees, works many many muscles!. Sometimes it is called a whole body exercise!. It is good for sports and has a lot of carryover value for the lifting of heavy objects!.

The dead lift has a squatting type of movement that involves the quads!. Detailed instructions often suggest you visualize pushing the floor away as you lift!.

Good mornings don't work the quads!. The good morning is a more narrow exercise!. It targets the hamstrings and puts them through a full range of motion if done with relatively straight legs http://www!.exrx!.net/WeightExercises/Hams!.!.!.

If done with knees bent the focus is more the buttocks!.

I don't like good mornings for one reason!. If it bothers your back you can't immediately let go the of the weights like if you were doing a straight-leg dead lift which is variation of the dead lift that does pretty much the same thing!.

You pick up the weight from the floor on a deadlift, and rest it on your back on a good morning!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
