Hi sweetie, I totally get what you're saying here, I was a lot like this when I was younger I had to nearly kill myself to lose any weight and then just sniffing a chocolate bar would add 3 pounds!. I have a few suggestions!.

Get your thyroid checked and when they give you the results make sure that they test for both hormone levels, one thing can be wrong while the other is fine, people who have an underactive thyroid find it hard to lose weight as the thyroid governs metabolic speed, it also tends to run in families!. Interestingly enough 'hoarding' (when the body stores fat as it thinks it is starving) appears to be a particular problem for hypothyroid people!.

Even if you do not have an underactive thyroid hoarding is a big problem when you over restrict your calories, as such if you go from eating 500 to 1800 kcals overnight your body essentially goes 'FOOD - MUST KEEP ALL THE ENERGY' as it thinks it is starving and will store the energy as fat!. I would recommend that rather than having a blow out and eating more than triple what you eat in a normal day, you increase your calories gradually over a period of time, say 50 - 100 calories more every day for one week and the the same again the next week and so on!. As such your body will be ablle to adjust itself gradually untill you can eat a relatively normal allowance!. You may wish to have a look at the composition of the foods that you are eating also!. As A type 1 diabetic I find that eating hi protien and low carb is useful for weight maintenance!.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you this but you are underweight for your height!. I know how scary it can be to see a number on the scale going up but please be aware that if you are restricting like this the chances are that you will develop a whole host of problems later on and while you are developing it is absolutely essential that you get all the right vitimans and minerals!. At the very least you should make sure that you are on a good multivitamin tablet and calcium,

Hope this helps sweetheartWww@Answer-Health@Com

5'6" and 113 pounds is underweight!. Your body is holding onto everything that you eat because it is starving!. Depending on your age and your body type, you need to gain a few pounds!. Your body works like a machine, the more you eat and the better the fuel you give your body, the better that it will operate!. You should be eating at least every 3-4 hours, if possible, even every 2 hours and take in 1200-1500 calories a day!.

Talk to your doctor about your fears!. It sounds like because of obesity problems in your family that you are so scared of becoming overweight that you are shutting your system down by not eating!. Unfortunately it is not an easy fix, you have to completely retrain your mind which takes time and a very good doctor!. Life is very short to worry about your weight!. If you eat healthy most of the time and exercise on a regular basis your body should get into a routine!.

Remember the bigger picture in life, and learn to love the skin your in!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I get it!. I used to be heavy myself!. Anorexic to the point where at 5'10 I was down to 112 LBS!.

You can't only eat 500 calories a day!. Anything below 1200 calories a day can cause, after a period of time, organ failure!.!.!.heat palpitations, low potassium and low sodium can cause seizures, your kidneys can produce ketones, kidney stones, liver trouble!.!.!.!.etc!.

The best bet is to stay with eating light and moderate physical activity!. Don't skimp on fresh veggies or fruit, or lean protein like chicken or fish!.!.!.olive oil, safflower oil!.!.!.etc!. Cut out most of your sugar!.!.!.and stay away from bread, pasta, and cheese!. You'll be just fine!. But don't starve yourself!. It's not worth it in the long run!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

the number you need to get to maintain weight i think is like 1500- 2000 calories a day (not exact figures) but if you have a metabolism weight issue i dont know how that would fare
500 calories is not much!.!.!.!.!.it shouldnt be a problem unless your metabolism is abyssmal- like really bad!.!.!.!.!.!.!.
you shouldnt really gain weight- you might even need more caloriesWww@Answer-Health@Com

What are you eating!?

I believe that some people are less efficient than others at metabolizing individual macronutrients (protein, fat, carbs)!.

Can you let us know what you eat when you eat 500 cals and when you eat "more"!? Also, How much more!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Eat! If you're body is gaining weight on that little amount of calories, it means that you need to gain weight to get to your healthy weight!. You won't get to be overweight if you eat like 1800 calories a day and work out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
