Would lifting "pretend weights" be just as effective as actually lifti!

Question: Would lifting "pretend weights" be just as effective as actually lifting real ones!?
I know this may be a dumb question, but it is something I have thought about for some time!. If I just pretended to lift weights (I'm talking about dumbbells) meaning I'll do the same things I would do if I was lifting a dumbbell, only I would not use a dumbbell!. Would this work!?

I guessing no, but then why not!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

An interesting question!. There are many studies that have been done when someone thinks about the activity and their activity will improve!. You can think about lifting weights and the form will improve but not the weight!. The reason weights work is that there is a resistance factor that challenges the muscles, tendons, and bones!. The body will then respond to that stimuli!. One can do all of this in the mind but the kinetic chain-reaction of events would be difficult to duplicate!. The hypertrophy of the muscles just wouldn't happen!. Perhaps there is someone out there that is familiar with a study that has dealt with this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yea of course!. think about it, i played air guitar for 12 years and i just know if someone handed me a real guitar i'd know EXACTLY what to do!.\

i hope you're not serious!. weights are expensive!. why would so many people waste money on them if you could get the same thing for free!? wow!.!. is your IQ 4!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

the form and technique is just as important as the weights you are lifting!. If you do not have that then the lifting part will be all wrong and it won't do you any good anyway!. The better form and technique you hav ethe better your muscles will form and look!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you don't have any weights, it doesn'tdo any good, because you have to have some weight that you are lifting!. If you are only lifting your arm, you have to do a lot of reps to equal a small amount of reps with dumbells!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Lifting actual weight puts strain on muscle fibers!. When a lot of strain is placed upon them, they are able to get bigger!. Resulting in bigger arms and stronger muscle!. Sorry to say, but lifting pretend wieght does not put strain on your muscle fibers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no, you build muscle by tearing the muscle you currently have and when it regrows, it grows larger!. The only way to tear muscle is to perform strenuous lifts with weights, lifting your arm in the air won't tear your muscleWww@Answer-Health@Com

No because you aren't physically challengingg your body!. When you lift weights, your muscles tear a little and new tissue grows over them, making them bigger!. That's why people are sore after they're done working out!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

it wouldn't work because you'd need the heaviness of the weights to strengthen your muscles!. Its not the movement but the bit of strain on your arms that makes them stronger!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

uhh no!. No resistance, yopur muscles aren't being used!. You can't mentally trick yoruself into physical fitness!. You ahve to do the work to get the rewardWww@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know a thing about lifting weight's, but by your question!. !. !.
It is like asking if I "pretend to eat 10 pounds of fudge" will I still gain weight!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, because when it started to get hard, you would subconsciously cheat, and the "weight" or pressure you apply on your arms would not be constant!. Just use dumbells Www@Answer-Health@Com

it works somewhat, but not the same as overloading the muscle!. Isometric contractions is what you are doing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No you would not build muscle but,you would still be using energy and that burns calories!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you strain like it's real weights, yes!. I think it's called isometrics!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

uhhh, if you want to impress some one, then go ahead lift them fake weights!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It would burn calories, but it wouldn't build muscle!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yea, just like your pretend girlfriend!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Since dumbbells weigh more than air, I'm thinking not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
