Answers:
Protein shakes can definitely help you in the recovery, and the common misconception is that once you start taking protein shakes that you will become muscular and bulky!. In fact, this is far from true!. Consider the fact that bodybuilders have to work EXTREMELY hard to achieve such a physique and consume a vast amount of calories to support such a rebuilding process within their bodies!. With that said, after lifting weights, your body usually goes into a catabolic state, meaning that it will break down muscle to feed itself protein!. This usually comes from newly gained muscle fibers, effectively slowing down progress made in the gym!. A protein shake will usually create a short insulin spike, which halts the catabolic process, as well as expediting the transportation of nutrients and protein to your muscles, accelerating recovery and promoting muscle retention!.

Protein shakes are usually made from whey which comes from milk, but there are other options out there, such as casein and egg protein!. However, I suggest you get whey as they really do taste the best!. As for wheat intolerance, there should be no wheat in the powder so you should be fine!. I recommend 100% Pure Optimum Nutrition Whey!. It is priced well, and is very good quality, as well as having a pleasant taste!. The general rule of thumb is to get !.4 grams times your bodyweight in kg so 24g of protein should fit the bill for you!. This is convenient because one scoop of ON why has 24g of protein!.

As for suffering 2 days after your workouts, have you just started your workout program!? This discomfort is referred to as DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) and is generally experienced after exercising muscles that have not been used recently!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can mix them with water too!. If you work out your daily caloric requirement and abide by it they will not make you gain any weight!.

However I am unsure about the IBSWww@Answer-Health@Com
