Is starvation my only option?!

Question: Is starvation my only option!?
Stupid question!? I know!. Let me explain!.

I have what you call the "Fat genes" my whole family is fat and both of my parents are!. I have the body type of my mom!. I have a healthy bmi but I'm high on the charts!. I want to lose 30 pounds but most of all I just want to be happy and healthy!. Althouh, when I told my mom about my problem and how cutting back doesn't seem to help, she said that the only time in her life she lost weight was when she starved herself for a year!.

Is cutting back food altogether my only option!? And by that, I mean, 500 calories a day!?
I know that it may seem unhealthy but I have to think of my options!. I want to change the way I eat and the way I look!. It seems that if I want to have a nice body, that's the only thing I can do!.

So is this a good decision for me considering my situation!? And don't tell me about exercise please, I already know what I'm going to do with that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all, when obesity runs in families it is more likely because your mom has poor eating habits, and passes those eating habits down to her children!. NOT because there is some gene that causes an entire family to be obese!.

And starvation is NEVER an option, even when you think you are faced with a problem such as yours!. Why do you think you need to starve yourself to be thin!? You can eat a well-balanced, healthy diet of 1200-1400 calories a day, and you will lose weight!. Eating just 500 calories a day will cause damage to your metabolism, and you'll be more likely to gain the weight back, and then some!. It will be an on-going circle!.Do it right!.!.!.do it once!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I try to do it sometimes but not like that i'm a guy i don't care that much about it anyway forcing your body to burn off fat might not be a good idea becuz when you start eating again your body is going to store alot more fAT THE BEST BET IS TO PROBABLY EAT NUTS LIKE PEANUTS OR STUFF EVERY TWO TO 3 HOURS so your body burns fat not stores itWww@Answer-Health@Com

ok first of all i do not believe that the "fat gene" exists!. but have you ever had your thyroid checked!? because if you are having trouble losing weight is could be problems with your thyroid!. i recommend getting a dr!. appt and talking this out with him/her and telling them your problems!. starving yourself will not do you any good because most likely you will end up binging!. stick to a 1200 calorie diet plan at the lowest!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

what you can do is just dont eat so much junk bcuz that has a lot of high fat in it! don't worry i have the fat genes too it freakin sux!.!. im 17 and im 150!. ALSO DONT STARVE U WILL ONLY GAIM MORE THATS NOT GREAT~!!! good luck go to Google type in teen health help and that will giv uu tips k!?!? good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

That is awful advice your mom gave you to starve!.
I'm struggling with and eating disorder and it is hell!. Don't start yourself on that path!. you will get caught up in it like i did!. and it is not healthy at all!. keep yourself at eatting at least 1200 calories a day!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well im sorry to say but watching your eating alone will only get you so far with weight loss!. Exercise is a huge factor! I know u dont wanna hear it but its the lazy person that resorts to cutting back to next to nothing with their food intake!.

I dont care what people say about 'fat genes'!. My mother and brother and grandmother and grandfather are overweight in my family!. They have gotten high blood pressure, high cholestoral, diabetes, and heart problems!. I have learned from there mistakes and maintain a good diet (lots of fruits, veggies, and white meats (chicken!.!.fish)!.!.) combined with excersize!. I started running at 14!. Since then I have added in road cycling and swimming laps!. So 'Fat Genes' dont fly in my book!.

The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in!. Check with a MD about a diet and exercise regimen and stick with it!. I don't believe there are 'fat genes' Southwest Indians in the 1800's were not fat, but since they were confined to the reservations and supplied with almost nothing but wheat and lard as staples, we now have third and fourth generations who are overweight because of their food intake and lack of physical exertion!. The firewater doesn't help, either!. You can probably eat anything you want, so long as you do it buck naked in front of a full length mirror!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Starvation is never a good option, no matter what your situation is!. "Fat genes" don't mean you HAVE to be fat!. There is a phrase I learned in my Weight Management and Obesity class (I'm a nutrition student) that goes: "Genes load the gun, but environment pulls the trigger!." It means that even if your genes predispose you to be overweight, you won't be overweight if you don't let yourself be!. It's all about your eating and exercise habits!. Eat well and exercise often and you should lose weight slowly but healthfully!. Don't give up!

I know you think you've tried everything, but maybe what you thought was the right thing to do really wasn't or you didn't stick to your diets long enough!. I recommend going to a registered dietitian!. They'll work with you to create a diet plan that will work for your body and they'll teach you how to live a healthy lifestyle so that you maintain your loss!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I went to this website http://nutrition!.about!.com/od/changeyour!.!.!. and I put in the info your provided and that you were 19yrs old (it was the youngest age to choose) and it said that in order to reach your goal, you should have 1404 cals a day to lose a pound a week without exercising, but if you exercise on a regular basis, you'll lose more than that!. A simple rule to remember is that since there are 3500 cals in a pound, you'll lose a pound a week if you burn 500 cals a day!. Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com
