Question: Are you supposed to gain a bit of weight before a growth spurt!?
Okay, so right now I feel really fat, even though I know I'm not!. But it seems like I have more fat in my stomach and stuff!. Apparently I take after my older sister, who got a major growth spurt right around my age, so I was wondering!.!.!.are you supposed to gain some pounds or fat before a growth spurt!? Because otherwise that means I need to start working out!.!.!.:PWww@Answer-Health@Com

Wait gain around puberty is not uncommon!. Every individual goes through puberty differently, even siblings can vary drastically!. Many times one sibling will weigh more than the other before puberty, and then it gets flip-flopped after both have gone through it!.
If you're concerned about it, see a doctor!. Also, it's generally a good idea to not start an exercise regimen without first consulting a doctor!. Most schools require physicals before starting any sports for this very reason!. Although I always advocate exercising regularly, it's always a good idea to get things checked out and monitor things initially!. I have to admit, I have never heard of that happening before!.
Although, I know it is not uncommon for girls to gain weight, particularly around the stomach and hip area, when they are going through puberty or are close to starting their periods!.
