Is it unsafe to exercise on a recumbent bike every day?!


Question: Is it unsafe to exercise on a recumbent bike every day!?
I recently got an exercise bike -- Yay! I've been DYING for one!

Anyway, I really enjoy using it, and I am using it for leg strengthening, but mainly for fat burning and aerobics!. I ride for about 20-30 minutes at a time, and typically get 5 miles done in that time, burning 100 calories!. I'm trying to work up my strength and stamina so that I can do more than that and burn a bit more!.

Anyway, my question is, I really enjoy riding it!. Is it actually harmful for me, or less productive if I use it every day though!? The book recommends I use it 3-5 times a week!. Will my results not be as good/fast if I use it every day as opposed to 3-5 days a week!.

1!. How often should I ride to get the best results!?
2!. How fast should I be going!? (I typically go 14-16 MPH!.)
3!. How long should I aim to ride for!? (I typically go 20-30 minutes!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com


Answers:
1!. 3-5 times a week would be minimum!.
You can go every day if you wish!. The bike is a low impact device!. If you are not getting any soreness in your leg or hip joints you are not suffering from overuse injury!.
2!. That is a reasonable pace were it a real bike but sounds like the stationary is bit generous!. No matter though because it becomes a metric for comparison!.
3!. Work up to a 30-35 minute workout!. Use about 5 to 8 minutes to get up to pace, use 20 minutes at high output pace and wind down for about 5-8 minutes!. Work that higher pace as high as comfortable in the middle and make the effort earlier and longer as you get better!.
When you reach that high output early and for the whole intermediate section turn your pace up!.
Understand that you will not be able to keep a steady pace workout to workout!. Some days you will just feel stronger than others!. Just go at the best pace you can on those days you may not feel like pushing!.
In about 4 weeks you will look back and wonder why you were so slow before!.
Remember that the purpose is not fast results, it is consistent results which slowly builds stamina!.

No its not harmful!. You are on a good schedule!. I have one and to make my time go by faster on it!.!. I play video games since it is a recumbent and my hands are free!. I get so involved in the game next thing I know!.!.an hour has gone by and my shirt is soaked from the sweat!.

1/2 an hour at a time a good start but if you are looking to burn the fat!.!. you have to sweat!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

My only added comment is that your body gets used to exercise!. You may find after a while that you don't seem to be seeing any additional results!. I'd add in weights and some different cardio from time to time to keep your body guessing so you don't plateau!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
