Push-ups are an excellent exercise!. Realize that there are many types of push-ups!. Check out demonstration videos on You Tube and mix up the type!.
As far as how many to do that is purely individual!. So here is what to do!. When well rested test your maximum push-up limit!. Do as many push-ups as you can while still maintaining good form (straight back) and not resting in between reps!. Now take that number nad divide in half!. That is the number of reps you do in a set!. Then do three sets with a 30 to 60 sec rest between the sets, every other day (three times per week - one day of rest)!. Example: You can do 30 push-ups so you do 3 set of 15!. The net effect is that you overload your muscles by 50 % and this causes growth!. As the sets become easier over a few sessions retest yourself and up you number of reps!.
Add in other exercises such as dips, chin-ups or pull-ups, lunges, squats etc!. I recommend getting a program and following it!.
I really question 400 g of protein - that is 1,600 calories or 75 % of you calories from protein!. I doubt you body can even properly absorb that!. The traditional rule of thumb has been 1 g per lb of LEAN body mass!. Current research is showing that 130 g of protein is effective at growing muscle!. See the latest issue in Men's Health magazine for a short blurb on this research!. So I would scale back your protein goal!. Get a good book on the subject!. See my sources below!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

400 grams of protein is entirely too much!. Your kidneys will have a difficult time processing that much protein!.

For your body weight you need about 185 grams of protein if you are lifting heavy weights!.

Also, eating 6 meals a day is sound advice!. Eating that frequently speeds up your metabolism and also allows for maximum muscle growth!.

Start out doing 2 sets of push-ups till failure, which just means do as many reps as you can!. Gradually work your way up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes push ups are great I got my biggest doing push-ups, pull-ups and dips!. (Dips are my favorite, great for chest and triceps) DO pauch ups with someone sitting on your back, that's waht I did!. and the 6 times a day and 400 grams is about right!. I would supplement with cell-tech and Nitro-tech protein powder!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

push ups to gain muscle!?!?!? People are informed on gaining mass!. With your weight i would not worry about protein just yet!. Yes do eat 6 meals a day!. I would worry about jogging off the weight before dealing with gaining weight by lifting!. Push ups are not great muscle buildersWww@Answer-Health@Com

Start with 2 sets of 10, if that's easy, go up to three sets, four sets, etc!. Sets of ten is healthy for push-ups to gain mass!. Burn yourself out every other day, give yourself a day to heal in between!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
