Water intoxication is most commonly seen in infants under six months of age and sometimes in athletes!. A baby can get water intoxication as a result of drinking several bottles of water a day or from drinking infant formula that has been diluted too much!. Athletes can also suffer from water intoxication!. Athletes sweat heavily, losing both water and electrolytes!. The problem is with the minerals in the water or lack thereof, particularly the sodium in your bloodstream!. To keep your cells hydrated you need sodium!. Sodium controls the amount of water that enters your cells from your blood stream!. When you go to the hospital or are put into an ambulance they almost always hook you up to an IV of saline solution which is 1 quart of water and 1 teaspoon of salt!. Many people who drink water actually add ? teaspoon of sea salt to every pint of water they drink for this reason and then they drink half their body weight in ounces per day!. If the woman who died after drinking so much water added salt to the water she probably would have been fine!. Because she didn't do that most of the sodium in her blood stream was diluted or flushed out of her system!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am a construction worker in Texas!. During summer months, when it hovers around 100 degrees, I will drink 2 - 2!.5 gallons a day!. But I also drink about half gallon of gatorade in between the water to keep up my sodium, potassium levels, as all that water flushes those important electrolytes!. It can cause nausea and fatigue in high doses, especially when drank at colder temperatures!. Generally you can drink about a gallon of room temp water and just feel a bit uncomfortable, while ice water can actually start to come back up after about 3 glasses!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

too much water, sugar, salt!.!.!.youll have to drink a heck of a lot though and you have to prevent yourself from unrinating or vomitting due to your body attempting to expel it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Drinking FAR too much water is bad!. It is equally bad as not drinking enough water!. Drinking too much water does not mean 10 glasses everyday!. It means that if you drink too much all at once!. You can get over hydrated which isn't good!. Hope that helps! Also I heard that a woman died from drinking too much water at a water drinking contest!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
