Pain in the shins after exercise classes?!

Question: Pain in the shins after exercise classes!?
HI there, my girlfriend has been getting into some exercise classes down the gym, and is averaging 5 1 hour classes per week!. Recently, she's been experiencing some pain in her shins, and we were wondering if any of you have had this before, and if better trainers, or any other form of suppprt would help!. Or is she just over doing it!?!? Any advice would be gratefully received!.
ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like she is getting shin splints!. Are the classes aerobic based with a lot of running around!? Maybe she could try spin classes as this won't put any pressure on her knees or shins!. Otherwise she made need to change her shoes!. My aerobics instructor told me you need special shoes suitable for aerobics to support the ankles and knees, and that normal running shoes don't cut it because they're not designed to support you when you're side stepping etc!.

It could also be how she naturally places her feet when landing on them!. It may be worth her going into a sports shop and having an assessment done on her running style and what shoes would be best to support her!.

Tell her to keep up the good work though and not to give up!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Could be a few things!.

Is she new to the concept of exercise!?
If she is, it could just be the fact her body/muscle is getting used to the work/impact etc!.
Just ease off the training for a bit!.
Try swimming a couple of days!.
A decent pair of trainers is always worth buying!.

If she has been doing exercise for years it could be a repetitive strain injury!. It could be shin splints!.
The pain can be caused by shards of bone from the shin digging/catching the muscle when it moved past the bone!.
A visit to the Docs may be worth while!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like she may be overdoing and developing "shin splints," actually tendonitis!. Ice the shins!. DO NOT relax in a jacuzzi
