Mmm, yes and no!. BMI is a general indicator of Height to Weight proportions and can only be used as a guide only!. BMI does not tell you lean mass to fat mass ratios!. So for example, a lot of professional athletes are overweight, and some are even obese according to their BMI!.!.!.but when you see them they are obviously healthy and very fit!.
SO!. In summary!. BMI is a good guideline, but it doesn't tell you anything specific!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

BMI is a very general indication of the ratio of your weight to height, and it does not take into a number of different factors!.( such as racial characteristics, body type "endo, ecto or mesomorph" and others)
a person can be within the normal healthy range for there height but be unfit!.
Muscle weighs more than the corresponding volume of fat, and therefore some weight lifters etc who may seem perhaps to be very fit may be in the unhealthy range according to BMI calculations!.
Use BMI as a very generally indication of fitness/health, get a body fat analysis for a better view, but even that will not tell you how healthy you are, you need a whole bank of different test for thatWww@Answer-Health@Com

Understand though that the BMI is not perfect and does not accurately predict condition of everyone who plugs their height and weight into the formula!. There are so many different shapes and sizes of people, it is impossible to apply the BMI model to everyone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
