Question: Whats a good breathing exercise to increase my lung capacity!?
and what good use will it be of!? e!.g!. what will it help me with!? like holding my breath when snorkling etc!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I learned a lot from a book called "The TAO of Health, Sex, and Longevity"!.!. theres a chapter on ancient Chinese breathing exercises!.!.could probably find it online!.

try this!. 2 x / day!.!. early morning and late night!.

Exhale as hard as you can (making the shhhhhh sound!.!. which expels stale air from your lungs)!.!. in hale 1/2 way!.!. hold it for 10 seconds!.!. then repeat 5x!.

After this!.!.

Take 5 deep deep breaths!.!. in through nose!.!.hold 10 sec!.!. then again, making the shhhhhh sound on a 20 sec exhale (tongue on the roof of your mouth, mouth closed, expel air to outside of your mouth)

Hate to tell you, but it's exercise!. Running, mountain biking, fast swimming are all good aerobic exercises to increase your lung/heart stamina!. You can't actually increase the size of your lungs, however!. Regular vigorous exercise has about the same effect!.

There are even recent studies that vigorous exercise can halt the damage from emphysema!. It doesn't reverse it, but can add a decade or two to your life!.

You will feel younger, more confident, more fit, and you will develop long lean muscle mass!. You will be more attractive!. You will have a lot more energy, and be more lithe and steady!.
