Question: Alright so we did this thing and gym and am i overweight!?
Hello, I am Savannah and i am 17 years of age!. Now, i happen to be 5'2" and weigh in at a staggering 138lbs!.
Yeah bad i know, but heres the thing, i play soccer volleyball, and track!. So i have a lot of muscle tone, not like ew man muscle but yeah anyways!.
Now we did this thing in gym and it says im over weight, but i really dont have very much fat to loose!.
So i am here asking the "community" what they think and i'd appriciate honest even brootal if you must answers!.
And possibly any suggestions on how i could weigh less!.!?!?

Let me guess, in gym you tested your BMI, which measures your weight compared to your height!. BMIs aren't always correct because they don't take into account your muscle mass!.

Yes, you are slightly overweight, but as you mentioned, you're athletic so you have muscle!. The majority of the time, you find will athletes that are considered overweight according to BMI, but the muscle is making them weigh more!. Muscle weighs more than fat, which isn't necessarily a bad thing!. Having more muscle is always better than having more fat!.

Don't worry about your weight as long as you feel healthy!. If you feel you don't have any fat to lose, then you probably don't!. You shouldn't focus on losing weight because if you lost anything, you'd probably lose muscle!. Besides, you need that extra weight and muscle for energy while you play sports!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well according to an online BMI calculator, you are overweight, but barely!. I would just try eating better!. Make sure you do not exceed 1800-2000 calories per day!. The amount of fat intake should not exceed 55g!.

As a former personal trainer, I saw this a lot!. a lot of hs girls who were " chubby" and really just needed to tone up!. I really think you should just eat healthier and workout 4-5days a week!. Aim to tone up and you will probably shed a few inches in your legs/waist!.

Don't go based on that!.!.!. you're obviously active and healthy and muscle weighs more than fat!.!. you're not overweight!.!.!. Whatever you did in gym class is just a general rule!.!.!. If you had a doctor actually take a look at you and take into account all the excersize you DO get, they would CERTAINLY not tell you you were overweight!.!.
