Under 1000 calories considered "starving yourself"?!

Question: Under 1000 calories considered "starving yourself"!?
I'm trying to lose weight and only eating veggies and fruit in order to achieve that!. I have heard that eat under 1000 calories a day puts your body into starvation mode, however I eat barely 1000 calories a day myself and don't feel hungry!.

I just fill myself up with tons of veggies with very low calories that fill me up but don't have anything bad in them!. Is that okay!?

I know I'm not meeting my requirements, but I don't feel as though I am starving myself!. Please help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well based on your height and weight (I'm also assuming your a girl) eating under 1000 calories isn't something that you should be doing EVERY day, but if say a few times a week you eat under 1000 calories it will not hurt you!.

You should be aiming for around 1200 - 1400 calories a day based on your height and weight to lose fat, especially considering that your working out every morning and burning 500 - 650 calories!.

You should also definitely be eating more protein than you actually are!. I'd make sure you eat egg whites (I'm assuming that's what you like since you mentioned them) every day!.

If you add the egg whites in daily it should bump your calories up to around the 1200 - 1400 range!.

To be honest, the whole "starvation mode" thing may just be a myth!. I've heard it mentioned a lot before but I'm not sure if there have ever been any scientific studies done to prove or disprove it!. I know a lot of people who have lost weight eating a super low calorie diet without there body going into "starvation mode"!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No I don't believe it is!. I think America sets really high calorie intake standards which is why the Chinese and Japanese are so thin and Americans are sooooooooo fluffy lol!. But less than 1000 is fine!. In the end though only you can decide what you want to do with your body and what you want to achieve with it!. I used to be 150 and I lost weight and went to 100 pounds!.!.!.I am 5'3!. Everyone started nagging that I was too skinny but that's such a like because I could only fit into size 3 jeans!. I have alot of belly fat, but anyways I started to eat more and gained alot of weight over 20 lbs!. But the extra weight makes me feel really lazy and unhappy so I'm going to exercise and lose it again!. :) Fitting into small sexy clothes is the best feeling in the world and not being able to fit into it anymore sux!. But since you work out I think you will lose weight extra fast, I heard that 3500 calories = 1 lbsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, you don't think you are starving yourself, but you are!.

You need to slowly increase your caloric intake to about 1500 calories!. That is at a level where you will be eating enough but losing the weight you want to lose!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

We need your weight and height to answer this question!.!.!.
But the reccomended Calorie intake is 2000!.!.
(Although that changes frequently)

As long as you're eating, I think you're doing fine!.

Just don't become Anorexic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's tough to say unless you're a nutritionist, doctor, or fitness expert!. But I would say that it sounds like you are on the verge of "starving yourself!."

I'm 5'1" and currently weigh 113 pounds!. A couple months ago I weighed 120 and cut back my caloric intake a bit!.!.!. I went to http://www!.my-calorie-counter!.com and started my account there!. I averaged 1400 calories per day and I burned about 650 calories per day!. I lost 7 pounds in about 3 or 4 weeks!.

In order to lose weight healthily you need to get all of the correct nutrients and unfortunately only eating fruits and veggies won't do that for you!. You should definitely make fruits and veggies the largest portion of your food intake, in my opinion!. But you do still need some carbs and protein and all that other good stuff in there!.

I'd suggest trying out a calorie counter website--I really liked http://www!.my-calorie-counter!.com because it gave all the stats for the food and the exercise and you can add in your own and it keeps track daily and weekly and gives you all of your body statistics as well!.

Just be aware of the fact that you need to steadily and healthily lose weight!.!.!. about 2 pounds a week is a good pace!. Otherwise you'll gain it all right back!. And get all the nutrients you need!. I basically just try to be aware of my portions, sweets, and fats!. Oh, and avoid fast food!. HaHa!. Other than that I eat fairly healthily but mostly what I want!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
