Vitamin C Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA)?!

Question: Vitamin C Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA)!?
A carton of orange juice has a volume of 250ml!. On one side of it is written the following: " 100ml of the juice provides 67% of RDA of Vitamin C"!.
Now that's per 100ml!. In other words, a carton provides 2!.5*67% = 168% of RDA of Vitamin C!.
If I drink one carton per day (or a typical 250ml glass), am I risking my body to Vitamin C overdose!? If not, then how so!?
For all I know a glass of orange juice per day is considered a healthy diet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

While it's theoretically possible to overdose on ascorbic acid, nobody has ever managed to do it to the best of my knowledge!. It has a very high safety threshold!. Lots of wacky pseudo-medicine people encourage others to take ginormous doses of it, and they don't generally get sick as a result!.

There's no particular benefit to consuming more ascorbic acid than you actually need, and interestingly enough, most mammals don't need to consume any, since their bodies can make it from glucose!. Primates, guinea pigs, and one species of bat are the only exceptions!. We have the code in our genome, but it's got a few broken spots, so it's not a functional gene!. So, all people suffer from a form of hereditary hypoascorbemia which requires them to consume dietary ascorbic acid to avoid catching scurvy!.

If you don't have scurvy, you're consuming enough vitamin C!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for Vitamin C in nonsmoking adults is 75 mg per day for women and 90 mg per day for men!. For smokers, the RDA s are 110 mg per day for women and 125 mg per day for men!. A dose of 200 milligrams daily is almost enough to maximize plasma and lymphocyte levels!.

200-500 mg per day (in 2-3 divided doses) can cause an overdose but this depends on conditions such as trauma, if your a smoker and other conditionsWww@Answer-Health@Com

100% is 60mg, that is the very minimum so you don't die, if you want to stay healthy you need a little more!.

For me, I take 500mg per day, they say you can take up to 5000 per day, but I think 1000 to 2000 is plenty, unless I was sick or something!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you take too much vitamin C you just pee it out!. And no, one carton per day ain't gonna do any harm!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
