Question: Am I overweight, or close to becoming overweight!?
I am a 15 year old girl!. My height is 5'1" and my weight is 123 pounds!. Am I overweight, or close to becoming overweight!? If so, how can someone my age lose weight, preferably quickly and in a healthy way!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

To figure out if you are overweight, you should calculate your BMI (body mass index)!.
BMIs:

* Underweight = <18!.5
* Normal weight = 18!.5-24!.9
* Overweight = 25-29!.9
* Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

I calculated yours (http://www!.nhlbisupport!.com/bmi/) and it's at the higher end of normal!. While you aren't overweight, if you don't have healthy habits you could end up there!.

It is pretty much impossible to lose wait quickly AND healthily!.

I would suggest eating healthfully, with lots of veggies and fruit!. Instead of eating three meals, eat 5 or 6 smaller ones - it will speed up your metabolism!. Think of your metabolism as a fire!. If you throw a big log on it, the fire will die down a bit, and once it gets "control" of the big log, it'll get hotter, then another big log is thrown on!. Not too efficient!. But if you throw a few small sticks on, the fire grows quickly!.

Exercise regularly - try for 30 minutes of cardio a day!. This isn't possible for everyone, but it's healthy!. Try for at least 4 days a week!.

At 15, don't worry too much about your weight!. You're not overweight - you're normal!.

If you are muscular at all, muscle weighs more than fat and accounts for extra poundage!.

I think you might be a little chubby, but not overweight!. I checked your b!.m!.i, and it's 23!.1!. Here is the list of what your b!.m!.i means:

Underweight = <18!.5
Normal weight = 18!.5-24!.9
Overweight = 25-29!.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

So you are not overweight, don't worry :)
Also, I'm not an expert about this, so I think you might want to ask your doctor, too!.

you are on the slightly fat side, but u are not overweight according to a bmi calculator, but acording to a ideal weight calculator, u shud shed about 30 pounds!. according to me, i think u r probably fine, ujust a lil fat!. my suggestion, dont worry bout ur weight rite now, but if the scale goes from 123 to 150 in a hurry , then u shud worryWww@Answer-Health@Com
