Question: What are some good ways for teenage boys to loose weight?
I am 15
5"4
130 lbs.
Most of my fat is on my stomach and I would like to get a flat stomach. I am looking for ways to loose this weight at home.

to get a flat stomach, you need to:
1) lower the fat content in your diet. try eating 5 small meals instead of 3 big ones, too.
2) drink lots of water
3) do at least 30-45 minutes of cardio 5+ days a week



At fifteen years of age, I too, topped the scale at 130 pounds. Unfortunately, in this case, I was nearly six feet and so it can't be considered the same and yet, it was. You see, my friend, I was tall and skinny. They use to tell me that I could look through a peep hole with both eyes ... at once! That if I got caught in a rain storm, it would be fifteen minutes before I actually got wet! All in fun, you might think but I didn't laugh. Making matters worse, I was very shy and somewhat introverted and had the self confidence of a church mouse. Today, at fifty, I am still tall and skinny, probably no more than 165 pounds but I overcame most of those issues at fifteen when I was fifteen.

This worked for me and without knowing your situation further, all I can do it to tell you what worked for me and hope some of it is beneficial. This is my suggestion of steps and this is the order that worked for me:

(1) Locate a non combative or minimally combative Martial Arts instructor. I chose Goju Ryu which is a Japanese form of Karate, I believe. This will provide you with agility, stamina, coordination and confidence as well as the mental capacity to jump quickly (6 months) into step number two.

(2) Assuming that you are still in school and that schools continue to have an athletic department, when you feel good and know what you want to achieve, find the Football coach. If you think I'm talking about a round spotted ball ... go back to step one ... I'll wait for you to get back ...

Good, welcome back to America. I am talking about a sport that will get you into shape or kill you trying. Just a joke but the reality is that High School football, above Basketball, Baseball and Soccer will change many things in your favor. First, you will learn how to be physical, you will learn to exercise so much that your body will look like it is trying to escape from the body you now have. You will walk the halls in a slightly different manner (please do not get cocky) and the other kids will start to see you in a different light. If you have never been involved in a team sport, tell the coach to help you find what you are best at and throw in, "So I can help the team win a championship". Oh, yea, the coach will like you but my point is, if you are quick ... use it to your advantage, kick the crap out of a ball ... jump all over it and win the position!

On Thursday in your science class and with anticipation for tonight's game, the fourth of the season, when you sit in your desk, you'll suddenly look down in amazement. "Where the Hell is my big gut?", might be your question, mine was, "When did my stomach start looking like a Rippled Chip?" Then I noticed that I doubted if I could shove a pencil into my abdomen without breaking it trying because it was so hard although, I never tried anything that stupid. If you are able to do both the Karate and the Football and you are enjoying all the new girlfriends and can spare the time then I'd say continue with both but I gave up the Karate after six months in order to move into step three and double my girl friends in one move.

(3) Start playing Drums in a Rock and Roll Band and grow your hair very long! Well, I know, times are different and you may not like Rock music but I must tell you that 15, 16 and 17 were un-friggin-believable for me so Good Luck on yours and I hope I gave you a few ideas. :)
