What are some reasons as to why I'm gaining weight?!

Question: What are some reasons as to why I'm gaining weight?
I only eat 1500 calories (which is 200 less than what I'd need to lose one pound per week-my calorie counter said so). I make sure to jog at 4.5-5.0 for an hour so I burn anywhere from 400-500 calories. I eat very healthily; no white carbs (or I try my best to avoid them) egg whites instead of whole eggs, lean chicken and pork, things of the like. I try not to eat candy; but once a day I'll have a little taste of chocolate to keep me from binging. I won't have a full serving, just a tiny corner to get a taste. I don't do this everyday, though so I know it can't be my eating habits keeping me from gaining weight. What are some other things that would cause me to gain weight before I lose it? And is this normal?

First of all your diet sounds healthy. Have you measured your BMI or even measured your waist, hips, thighs, etc? If so you may be surprised to see that you are actually losing fat. Sometimes when you increase your activity and start working out you do lose the fat but it is replaced by muscle which weighs more than fat. I have a feeling this is what is going on with you. Don't lower your calories too much though because that will also lower your metabolism and you will feel weak. It's also harder to lose weight if your metabolism is low. You're doing great! Good luck.

I suppose your metabolism is slow.Either way,no matter how many calories you eat,it all depends on what type of food you eat. Also, your calorie counter may not be as accurate as you think it is.Browse on the internet for information on a healthy diet to increase weight loss.

Also,140 pounds is amazing. As a man,140 definitely appeals to me.

I don't see why you need to lose any weight.

Weight Control and Fitness are ongoing things. I'm probably a lot older than you and in my experiences with a multitude of crash diets and fitness programs. I have discovered that there is no single program which works for everybody, all the time. A program that focuses on inventory (weight) control using calorie input minus calorie output equals weight gain or loss is the best and most realistic approach. The only web site I've found that seems to understand this is old crow ink. You might want to try them out and see if one of their solutions works for you.
Best wishes
