Here's what I've done, and so far, it has worked. It takes a while, but the results stay for longer than if you starve yourself.
Food-wise:
-I eat 1,000-1,200 calories per day
-I never eat crap food. I don't eat candy, drink soda, or eat other junk food (potato chips, etcetera)
-I drink at least 1L of water every day, most of the time 1.5-2L

Exercise-wise:
-I do 30-60 minutes of cardio, 6x a week
-I do a 20-minute ab routine 6x a week (see here: http://findingthinagain.tumblr.com/post/… I do everything except for the hanging knee raises, since I have no pull-up bar)
-I do simple arm exercises 3-4 times a week w/ 5lb dumbbells
-I do squats and lunges 3-4 times a week
-I do calf-raises 3-4 times a week

Yeeee. That's about it! I've been doing this since late June/early July of 2010 and I've gone from 123 pounds to 100, then back up to 106 (darn those holidays! :) ). I'm stronger, healthier, and happier than ever. And even though it has taken me about 7 months, the results are awesome, and I'm so happy! If you starve yourself, your body will break down and you can actually gain MORE weight. :(

Good luck, and don't forget to do it the healthy way! (:

in my experience, exercise is key! i would recommend aerobics like zumba, kickboxing, and circuit training. on nice days go out for a 20-30 minute jog also. look up core strengthening exercises- this will make everything easier to do once your core is strong. remember to stretch A LOT and drink a lot of fluids.

a satisfying diet i follow a lot includes:
1/2 cup cereal (before workout)
fruit-protein smoothie (strawberries, banana, skim milk, yogurt, vanilla protein powder) (after workout)
veggie pizza
chips/pretzels
bagel sandwich
salad
dessert

I've had a lot of experiences with fad diets, pills, and weightlifting programs. None of these worked for me for the long term. Usually a program that recognizes that a weight control program which is concerned with long term weight control is the only type of program that works. The only place I've found on the web that seems to recognize all this is old crow ink. Try them. One of their programs might work for you.
Good luck

you dont neccesarily have to do this..

but I turned into vegetarian.. so if meat is a big part of your diet and you like it eat lean meats..turkey..chicken.. not red. For breakfast I drink protein smoothies made with ice fruit(frozen workd) whey protein powder and almond milk unsweetened. For lunch a salad or sandwitch i like the fake chicken morning star ones. or pb and js on reallly good homemade bread :)) with fruit or a greek yogurt.. Dinner is usuallly vegetables.. and brown rice.. or whole wheat noodles. a salad? or soup.. all vegetarian.. you can look at any vegetarian recipes and their all pretty healthy!!
I run and bike alot.. when their is no snow!! hike/ walk! WHen we do have snow snowhoeing and cross country skiing are a big part of my life!! Anything outside just be active!! If you like the gym whichh I hate!!!! that would work too.. this is my lifestyle and I'm a healthy fit person!! :)

Eat healthier, workout, and exercise.

To put things simply, eat less calories each day and you'll lose weight.

Do a few pushups and situps.

Take a walk when you have a chance
