push ups and muscle growth PLEASE a little help!?!?!

Question: Push ups and muscle growth PLEASE a little help!?!?
Hi I just recently turned 20, I weigh about 140, and i'm about 6"0 tall sort of skinny for my height, i am trying to do push ups and build muscle mass on my chest, arms, and upper body in general, I'm in about 5 days into the exercises of doing push ups. I've noticed some results, but how long will it take for me to notice REAL results? A problem I have is being motivated, and if I just look at myself in the mirror and see the same me, it's like I don't want to do it anymore....I'm in almost 1 week right now as it is, I'll keep it up, I have upped my water, and protein intake considerably.

Just looking for a genuine answer, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

So far you're doing good, but you may want to improve your training by making it harder each week. Increase the number of times you push up, or put your legs on a chair or something when you push up, or do it with one hand higher than the other. That way, you put more and more challenge to your muscles, and they have to grow to be able to do the increasingly harder workouts. Hope this helps.

im 5'11" and 130lbs dude I know where you are coming from. if you want to build bulk push ups ain't going to be enough. you need to get to a gym and talk to a trainer and tell them that you just want to bulk up and they will help you with how much weight on each machine, before work outs have proteim about 30min before and within 1hr after

Human body doesn't work that way, if you want to see results, you have to be patient and consistent. Push ups are great for upper chest, but your posture of push up is important too. You should read a lot more about gaining muscle. It takes up to even a year for many people to reach the goal. You'll start to see results after a month (earliest), the growth you see right now are entirely in your mind, because body transformation is not a piece of cake that you can do push ups 7 days a week and build muscle instantly. Be realistic about it and keep working hard. You should also know that you have to give your body rest after work out; In muscle training, you damage your muscle and then give it time to grow better, so if you don't give enough time to repair, you are eventually gonna lose the muscle mass you have now.

So, to keep yourself motivated, know the science behind the process, and that should give you a chance to see why the transformation won't happen instantaneously. Also, join a gym and talk to guys there, they can give you some real info and usually its motivating for most people. I know being motivated is tough, but over time it'll get into your routine and you'll feel void if you don't work out regularly.

Hope it helps a bit.

usually pushups alone are not sufficent enough to produce overall muscularity and development.. and size gain..

you need more of an overall body workout... lifting weights 40-60 mins 4-5 days per week.... training each muscle once a week...
and selecting 4-5 different exercises per muscle....
reps of 6-8

its also about eating a good diet.. approximately 20x your current body weight in calories... and one gram of protein for each pound u weigh...

supplments like whey protein and glutamine will help..

example

mon chest
tue biceps triceps
wed shoulders
thur back
fri legs
