Whenever I work legs my calves are the only thing that is hit....Help?!

Question: Whenever I work legs my calves are the only thing that is hit....Help?
Okay so I'm trying to attack my thighs and butt, however all this leg work seems to leave my calves in agony and the rest of my legs are unaffected. I'm not trying to work my calves and they are making it hard to work out because they are super tight and painful right now. How can I avoid working my calves but still hit the thighs and butt?

Answers:

maybe before your workout you can do some light stretching in your calves, and then see if it feels better, if you've been working out for a while you might just need time off to recover, and if your just getting started maybe you should just start with a lighter weight until you feel your calves ease up. If none of this works just do leg extensions for a few workout and continue stretching your calves, then go back to squats or leg press and see how they feel, if they are looser or not.

Are you stretching properly before and after your workout? That will definitely help with the tightness.
