Ok champ, here are some good exercises.
When you do crunches, put your hands on the floor and reach out as far as possible, if you can do over 60 crunches under a minute, your considered in the percentage of people who do this exercise and have strong abs.
The best ab exercise I have, is this: lay down on the floor, and lift your back off so that your abs are in contracted. then you bend your knees and raise your legs a little bit. the position you get here (raised back and legs) will be your START Position. From here, (1) you can either start to lay down (but make sure neither your back or knees touch the ground) and come up or (2) with your back off the floor move your legs in a swimming motion, or (3) in a scissor motion.
You can try to do the plank, which is a push-up position where you rest on your elbows and forearms, while your belly is close to the ground but in a solid state. Without moving stay in that position for 1min 30 (that's the percentage of people who do the exercise well), nothing should touch the floor besides your elbows. I think this is the best exercise.
finally, this one I never do but i read a studied chose it as the most effective, get on your back and raise your legs (90 degrees) and start moving them as if you were biking. you gotta do this one for a long time with a big emphasis on legs, don't move anything else.
