I am so tired of never gaining weight, ugh. Why?!


Question: I am so tired of never gaining weight, ugh. Why?
I'm 16. I mean I'm like 98 pounds. Wtf.
And I eat, a lot. I eat after school. (Fast food)
Then I come home after practice and eat dinner.
I eat a LOOOOOT AND I'M NOT EXAGGERATING.
Mind you that I usually snack all day long.

I'm a cheerleader. Does that have anything to do with it?
I don't look sickly or anything either. Just really thin. I'm like 5'3.
Why don't I gain weight?

Hi Maya, may be ur body metabolism,
u need to try intesity training, yoga, push-ups, situps, chin ups, dips to gain weight

u shud do 15 mins jog daily, sit-ups, climbing stairs, lunges, leg raises, dance workout for better metabolism

You can follow following diet and fitness tips for better results: -

A good tip is turn vegetarian, have 5 time meals rather.
You can have seafood also.
breakfast of cereals, milk and egg only,
lunch u can have beans on bread, dal rice, bread with baked/ boiled vegetables

have light dinner, again u can have bread and salad with gravy, pulses

avoid chicken, beef, pork, cheese, paneer, pizzas and junk food.
Avoid rice at night

learn some recipes for healthy food. You can look for alternates like fish, crab, prawns, Soya, Mushrooms etc..

You can do activities like streching, breathing exercises, yoga, running, like standing at same place u do running motion, arobics, dance, climb stairs till 5 storeys 3-4 times a day, jogging, badminton, volleyball also keep you fit
swimming is also good exercise

You can do free exercises like push-ups, sit-ups, chin-ups to stay fit

get a pair of light weight dumbells and do arm exercises

for thighs do lunges, sit-ups, stepper, multi-exercise, leg curls, leg press, jogging, climbing, climbing steps

for arms do dumbell curl, reverse dumbell curl with light weights (15-20-25 reps)

for abs do crunches, leg raises, tiwst crunches, standing twists etc.

for chest do bench press, dumbell flies, pec dec etc.

Note: I suggest light dumbells over machines. please make sure u do light weights and more reps for weight loss.
Please don't do exercise if you have cold or some illness.

I have the same problem that you do but I find it more as a positive side to life then a negative. Think about it you get to eat whatever you want and not worry about your weight BUT you still have to worry about your health so don't eat hamburgers everyday. The reason you don't gain weight is because you have a fast metabolism. Cheerleading probably also helps you not gain weight because your excercising. Having a fast metabolism simply put means that you burn calories faster than the average person so to gain weight you would in turn need to consume more calories. as the last post said you have a fast metabolism which can be good but you also need to have fast food in moderation due to their high saturated fats.

the key is REGULARITY. try not to skip meals ever and eat literally every 3 hours, have a nut or protein bar on hand for snacks at all times. eat high fat and high protein foods as long as they come from one of the food groups i.e cheese and crackers is fine. have milkshakes which are nourishing and at 16 you need to build up you bone strength.

you don't gain weight bc you're so active. you eat throughtout the day is another reason no weight gain. if you wanna gain some pounds, relax and chow down on pasta, white bread, fried chicken & other fried food and you'll be fat in no time. the easiest way is watch what the fat people and eat what they eat



same with me. a lot of people eat more than a cow and are skinnier than a stick. eventually when you become an adult you start to gain weight properly and get fat straight away because of the irregular diet, look out! :)



I'm not sure. However that fast food might not be effecting you now, but trust me, it will in your future.



its ur stoumach some are diffrent they digest faster or slower
