Question: Please help, underweight?
Hello
I'm a thirteen year old boy (I'll be fourteen in April) and I know I'm underweight. I'm in the 5'5-5'7 height range, and I'm most likely 5'6. I weigh 110 pounds. I know that even at 5'5 this is slightly underweight, so at 5'6 and 5'7 it is even worse. I used to be obese, and when I lost the weight and started eating healthier, I became underweight. While I've been underweight for awhile now, I'm only seriously getting concerned about it now. I eat healthy, exercise, and things of that nature, and I just started to weigh this much naturally. Should I try to gain weight? Or, should I just continue what I'm doing since my body hasn't gained or lost a pound (except in water weight) for months?
I know it's absurd to be getting worried about this, but my family is always calling me "anorexic." Or today for example, my mother said "You have to much pressure on those skinny shoulders of yours!"

hey im a personal trainer and you sound like you know what your doing over there, i would say to just hit the weight room, you already accomplished alot with losing weight and maintaining your weight and hopefully eating right, so i would say just hit the weight room and now, pack on muscle, if you exercise and are an active kid your metabolism may be high and you burn off fat and calories fast, but muscle doesn't burn off, so hit the gym, do some weight lifting, join the football team or basketball team or just go to the gym, where you can be around others who share your goals and can help and give advise and learn tips and techniques to packing on the muscle, you might have to alter your diet to a higher protein diet for massive muscle gain but you would need to talk to a personal trainer at your gym or school to get an accurate diagnosis on that, hope this helps a little.



That is not underweight are you kidding me? im 5"6 and im a girl and im 15 and i weigh 110 and they said im prefect weight..... dont be concerned about it! Stop worrying about what you eat...and just eat! dont even think about it! and thats a good thing if they are saying that....its just there way of saying im jealous of how skinng you are!



Eat nothing but fast food for a few weeks. If you have any doubt whether it will help you gain weight rub the food in a napkin, if it turns transparent then you better eat it. You'll gain it in no time.



You should just try to increase your calories slightly. Maybe add some extra peanut butter onto your sandwich or eat some extra oatmeal. Don't go to extremes.. you are still growing and it will eventually balance out.
